Hello friends,
I'm looking for a little guidance on duos.
My buddy wants to duo with me and is playing a magician. I'm looking for some input on which classes would work well with a magician.
I've been mostly considering a druid cause I already have one that's a lower level, but have also been considering strongly a necromancer. Potentially a shaman just because I hear they are great for duos although I'm not terribly keen on another priest class as my only two toons are cleric and druid.
I'm open to other classes if they will work better too.
Any thoughts and input is appreciated.
Thanks.

Necro is a strong partner for a mage. So is a second mage.
If you want something more outside the box, a bard.

Cleric: pacifies, heals pet (complete), roots, hp buffs, invis undead

It really depends on what kind of duo you're looking to do. If you are going to have your pet tank and get healed, sort of like a traditional duo of melee/healer, you can't beat the Shaman in my mind. Druid would be a decent second and would give you snare and port options.
But for a more "outside the box" approach the necro is a solid choice. You have some variability there and in open spaces you can utilize fear beyond just animals. I've also always been a big believer in Mage + Mage (+Mage!) making a fun and powerful team.

I'm thinking I'm more into the mage/necro style combo. My main is cleric so I'd like to get away from priest class/heals to try something different unless it's not recommended. A lot of people saying necro works well and I'm leaning that way anyway so that's likely where i'll end up.
Just a tad worried about downtime with mana.

If you go Necro, once you hit 20 you'll be doing all the heavy lifting because your mana regen will be much higher than his. However, you will have the benefit of mage pet DPS on top of your dots and pet.
Necro/mage is a really powerful combo because you basically get all the solo ability and speed of a necro soloer combined with extra DPS and staying power from the mage. Also the mage can be friendly and pop out Eyes of Zomm for you to dot-tap if need be.

Necro and mage will be a really mana efficient duo once you can start fear kiting. The mage can basically sick pet + drop one big nuke per mob, and the necro can just fear and use pet + one good DoT.
Also, be an iksar necro. Just do it.

If that's the case I'm less worried. I will go necro. Thanks for the help!
I dunno about Iksar though... thinking Erudite.

For the Paineel quests and the less KoS option. +int city for Erudite.

Iksar racial regen to counter the lich line is a truly massive racial advantage for the class, one of the few actual game changing ones.

Enchanter. On my mage, all I really ever want is something to cc for single pulls. Opens up a looooooot of options.
Plus, you can Tash/Malo. That'll be nice for the pee vee pee.

My gf and I did a mage duo since I already had a necro. It has its strong points, but mage nec is better. No cc or healing with the mages hurts.

The answer to every one of these threads is: Enchanter.
