Hey all,

I've been away for about a year, so maybe I'm forgetting something simple. I've looked at the setup guide but can't seem to troubleshoot it, even with a full reinstall of Titanium.

I'm extracting spell files v36 into a folder on my desktop, then dragging everything from that folder and dropping it into my Everquest folder. I tell the system to overwrite existing files, and to merge the Resources, uifiles, and Spelleffects folders. Afterwards, the folder on my desktop has 3 empty folders (Resources, uifiles, and Spelleffects) left in it but all the files have been moved into their respective folders in the Everquest directory.

Upon login, I am told my spell files are not up to date.

Suggestions?

A pre-emptive thank you to you gorgeous first responders out there at 5AM...!

You're not fully connecting to the server, false error until you establish a STRONG connection

or the dsetup.dll file is being eaten by your antivirus. Make a exception in your antivirus for p99 folder and extract the files again.

I tried this but I'm still getting the same error.

Could there be something wrong with the way my directory is set up? For instance many files are just floating loose in my overarching Everquest folder that contains the Resources folder, uifiles folder, etc. But I did a fresh install last night, so I doubt that's the problem.

Or is there some reason, since I haven't updated in over a year, that I need to go back and download all the patches since?

Thanks for the response though.

Could you please elaborate?

do you have EQ installed to the default directory or have you moved it to something like c:\everquest?

Have you successfully patched this installation of EQ with P99 files before?

It is installed in the default directory. But I believe I have played P99 successfully from that directory in the past.

move it out of the default (just copy the directory and make sure your shortcut is changed) to something like c:\everquest and try patching, UAC plays havoc with the patching process.

I am having the same issue on my laptop, me and my friend just got it at the same time, did everything the same way and his worked. I got home and installed it on my other computer and it also worked. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling on my laptop and it still doesn't work, not sure why its happening.

DO THIS. this sounds weird but this is why I was getting the spell out of date error. Open mcafee or whatever security you have. Open the quarantined files and trust the dsetup.dll file. Then your computer may even still try and delete this file... make sure you turn off your real time scanner. I noticed even if I trusted this file it would still get quarentined. This is because of real time scanner. Please let me know if this helped.
