What is the point of this spell? 600 mana for a hammer pet that attacks one mob then poofs, hits for mid 40's, and dies when a mob thinks about hitting it.

Ever since I've gotten this spell, I've been trying to find a niche where this would fit.

Long fights where you have too many clerics for the amount of healing needed? If you are trying to kill that magic-immune spider in solb with a cleric solo for some reason?

It definitely doesn't seem to hit hard enough to be worth the mana cost in most any situation. Even if you were aggroing bunches of lowbie mobs or something, seems like you'd be better off cast pbaes or clicking boots rather than summoning this hammer.

Wonder if it is actually hitting as hard as it did in classic. My few minutes of searching only show comments from like 2003 and later, and even then I only found 1 comment saying 70s and 1 comment saying "harder than necro pets up until 59" and 1 comment saying they were immune to AEs... but nothing more concrete than that.

Just a toy, gets better in the time line that will not be addressed by P99.

Do the mage pet focus item quest to get the ability to reclaim it for 100% of the spell cast cost provided it doesn't take any damage.

Don't see any mention of how hard it hits in there, or am I just missing it?

I use it for push. It also bashes, which can interrupt gaters.

This is the correct answer.

When I 3-4 man Sebilite Protector and Tolapmuj, I will cast the hammer at 95% and put him on the mobs back. So long as prot doesn't turn+riposte and jumpy doesn't GFlux or fear the pet, he does like 20 DPS. At 2% left on the mob I click reclaim and get back full mana.

It requires you pay attention to it and reclaim him if there is a chance of a riposte or AE killing him, but you can always recast after that and reclaim again if needed.

It makes playing a CH cleric a tad more interesting.

Listen up, what you're about to hear is going to make you shit cactus and question your sexuality.

First off, go get a reclaim pet item (mage quest).

Guess what? it fuckign works on your hammer too.

The Illustrious Gnome Wizard Nibblewitz showed me this game breaking mechanic when he used it on his shitty Flaming Sword of Xuzl (sp?) in a king group, upping his effective dps by about 6.

If you're in a stable camp with a stable group and want to have a lul, summon it, put it to mobs back, and then reclaim before the last mob dies.

Going to feed the starving masses of Freeport with all the summoned food it will take to max my clerics conj. And it's already at like 130, too!

Stop, stop, stop. You want to duo DEs with a monk or rogue? You need push power. This hammer won't get hit and can always be used for push in long, clear areas. Gore is starting to heal? That means no AEs. Hammer time. But yes, also very nice for added dps if you are smart.

Every little bit helps in the long run. Any pet better than none. :p

I am not sure this works on P99 but if it does then you can have a buffed pet that lasts for more than 1 mob.

I was playing around with the pet at FM giant fort on live long ago, there I would pull a mob and root it, then summon a pet with the mob hitting me. Next I would buff the pet ( with the mob still hitting me ), put a heal over time on it then run off to pull.

As long as I got hit by the new pull near my pet, my pet would then move to the add after the first mob died. By doing chain pulls and taking a hit from each mob my pet would live a long life.

This could be changed up for grouping at higher levels. If you have a chain puller and you are root parking adds, make sure you run up to each add and take a hit. Your pet should be fine to take a few hits with some buffs ( add a haste too if someone in your group can cast it ).

I hope it works here as it could be fun watching a skilled cleric pull this off in groups, I'll haste and buff the pet if it happens in my group.

This ... as long as you continue to get hit by new mobs, it will stay around and keep fighting (on live anyways - not sure here)

Hmm so I don't get it. Those are MAG items. Are they clickable from inventory for a cleric?

When someone asks for you to kill them in a duel, cast the hammer on them. As Ron Popeil says; "set it and forget it!"

Also the hammer does not always die instantly after the mob it is on dies. You can ping pong the same hammer onto multiple mobs if you are in melee range getting beat on by the second mob while the first mob dies.
