SHARK SKIN GLOVES

I have played everquest for many years and in classic everquest as of 1999/2000 era players were able to go to erudin and get a quest for sharkskin (all one word) gloves. They were like:

Sharkskin Gloves
Ac: 8
+5 Sv Magic +5 to another stat
weight: 1.4

i do not know the exact item specs but they were a classic item, where are these? i cannot even find mention of them on ZAM or any classic database. Perhaps in my searches i have missed it but could someone else remember this?

Checked modern and archived Zam and Magelo, I don't see any gloves like that or variations of spelling or quests awarding gloves of a similar type.

Erudin did have quest involving sharkskin, such as Barnacle Breastplate

those stats are already much better than any other quested item from erudin, unless we're talkin some high end 45+ questing. Otherthan the sharkskin shield I cant think of these being a classic item, sure it wasnt added with the starting city revamps?

Vazaelle was opened December 2000 and has history. I am very angry that I am losing the name of my server to a green server.

Well, I did it. I created a baby cleric on Vazaelle. Server is not a split server, only been up 2 weeks and already has 40+ people on it! But its kind of fun to be an untwinked newbie in a fresh economy. But then again, it is hard to do this again from scratch. Remember not being able to buy your spells? Remember the relief of getting summon drink because you can't afford to buy drink?

The newest US server started from scratch is indeed Vazaelle.
But it's about 18 months old.

Vazaelle was opened right around same time Velious was, not sure which was first, but definitely wasn't before Kunark. I think OP's memory isn't as good as it was back in 2000.

Well admittedly perhaps I started on another server then moved to Vaz and I admit my memory is not always the best but the quest is real. I did it in classic time and during kunark times on live. That being said I also had a book back then that had this Sharkskin gloves quest in it along with a large variety of hidden quests. Some with notes of unfinished quests and such. Perhaps it was a developer notebook but I no longer have it. Thus why I asked about it here but no one else knows what I'm talking about.

In the end the player was able to get Sharkskin gloves and then the lesser sharkskin shield from Freeport. Basically similar quest but Erudin folk got a better reward.

All I really remember is going to get two (perhaps it was four) non-lore shark skins. I ended up going to ocean of tears and got some to drop there then I headed back to Erudin via boat then port to Karana and then running to Qeynos docks. When I got to Erudin I turned in the skins for gloves. I believe the npc was near the docks but not on the dock itself. I do not remember the npc name or where he was exactly.

I think you're still misremembering. Someone on Alla's says you could upgrade that shield through tradeskills to AC 8, but no gloves.

Or maybe you're thinking of the Barnacle Breastplate that's AC 8.

Did you know there is a quest to unlock the bank in Freeport? It requires 210 lock pick and there is a guard inside the vault who had a paper he was supposed to give you if you had a note to give him but sadly that quest is broken.

Sharkskin Gloves don't have any support for existing anywhere.

To be honest Tahlvin I went to oot because I wanted to get away from Erudin and Erudin's crossing scared me back then. I also knew sharks came up to sister isle all the time and at the time I was killing sisters for 1 pp belts when I finished my skins.

210 lockpick wasn't a thing til kunark. Also, the stats are out of whack for the era, and most damning, it's not in Lucy's database.

Sadly I moved and it got lost.

I wish I made this shit up like anything but it was an amazing compilation book that someone printed at home then bound using a plastic clip spiral spine. It even had a picture of Firiona Vie printed on it.
