[Elder Holgresh Camp] Someone Done Fucked Up

Just letting everyone know that apparently "someone" did not tag next person in line for Elder Holgresh camp, and BDA has since moved in and laid claim to camp, starting a new list since the chain was broken.

The facts: Holgresh Cave was announced as not being actively held in /ooc. Filbus and I run over and sure enough, the cave was empty with PH's and the middle Elder up. No active presence at the camp and no one in zone with a list. We clear PH's for a solid 10-15 minutes before a previous person from old list shows up to contest camp.

A new list was thus started.


BDA is likely going to restore the old list, but the camp was left wide open.

I logged into the camp Friday night at 10:35PM EST, and several people on the list who were after Nejinmy were present. Asalizarr, Froogle, Detoxx were all present. I have a hard time believing that 5-6 hours the camp went FFA. Even if all of those people passed the camp to the next, Hevie was on list after Detoxx and is currently holding camp with BDA.

If I'm wrong I'm wrong and I'll apologize, but this seems shady to me.

There was no one in the camp. Detoxx lied and said he was nearby but he didn't show up until 35 minutes after.

The cave had one FD monk who was afk in the tunnel and zero people clearing PH's.

I'll explain the story from my end. I was helping Nejinmy on and off for about the last day and a half. He was fighting, without stopping as far as I know, for at least 38+ hours (note only 1 bead dropped in this time I think).

I said I was going to log for a bit and was fine if I got skipped (5-10 hour camp ok, but 1 bead dropping in like a 40+ hour period?). I called the guy ahead of me, Freeform, and he came and there were a couple others further down the list on helping also, forget who now. When I logged out (I guess about midnight EST) it was Nejinmy, Freeform, and 2-3 lower on the list.

I logged back on just about 25 minutes ago to see how the beads were going and to see if I was skipped yet to find this.

I can only assume that there was a big DC or something. I don't know exactly what happened only what I was told by the new group when I got back on. And that was, basically, that nobody was at the camp or something.

The list was working find until the Wakening Lands zone crashed, and then all the sudden beads stopped dropping for a long time. Wish I had more information about the current situation, though.

pretty incredible that with a list of 150+ ppl the camp was open and mobs were popped when Kushie and I arrived. but tbh I don't see what all the fuss is about. I got my beads in about 30 minutes so it seems like it should move pretty quickly 8)

i have nothing to do with the future of the list and i'll probably never grace the holgresh spawns with my presence again.

He'd been managing the whole camp just fine until someone came in and started harassing someone who hadn't slept in 40h. Golean, Hevie, Detoxx, and Ipsum (myself) were all in the zone at the time of the calamity and were all inbound to effect a rescue or resuscitate on the situation.

Unfortunately, Nej died somewhere outside and we didn't get there in time to support him.

While I like the idea that we reinstate the old list (and that's what I want), at SOME point ya have to draw the line. We did it when Kharizzar when LD for 30min on a power outage, and we did it when Koony was AFK in kael. Kharizzar we skipped, Koony (the reason for the Sirken says hotkey) was moved to behind the current list holder (and subsequently booted for mouthing off).

TL;DR?

Compromise and be civil. It's a game so have some goddamn decency and play nice.

If people actually have to sit there and wait for their turn they'll be less inclined to add themselves to the list and figure "I'll come back in a week when my names up"

Good to get some more insight into what happened. I know some people had been harassing Nej on and off throughout the time I was on, but I guess nobody actually tried to mess with the camp before since there were enough people there to prevent it.

Sitting at that camp made me realize just how rude some people can be on this server :(

I think the list was a great a idea and a wonderful way to control the chaos at a stupidly contested camp. The beads don't drop enough to require an active presence from everyone on list, but drop often enough that people up soon maintain a presence or risk getting kicked off list when it's their turn. It was a community effort. If the chain got broken, the list died and it gets started again. Working as intended imo.

Especially since I got mine.

It was actually 1 bead during a 40h period or so from what I saw (went to Trollolololol). Also, at least while I was there, people were grouped with the list holder and would have seen if beads dropped. I wasn't there the whole time, but would be on for 3-6 hour stretches to help out. I just wish I had been around the cave when it was an easy-mode 6-12 hour camp, before Wakening Lands crashed and all of the sudden bad luck hit the drop rate.

Either way, everybody can continue with their Red99 advertising, lol.

Did the spawn time change? It was 10x 15 minute spawns plus a single 2 hour middle spawn on beta.

The tin foil answer is that WL crashed a couple days ago and ever since the drop rate has been markedly worse. I think the spawn times are the same as beta though.

i made the ruling that you have to be at the elder beads camp to get the camp, if you arent there when your name comes up, it just goes to the next person on the list
they have a very good list system thats been working there except for that hangup, and thats how we did the NoS when it was in Dalnir
staff has it, now players have it too.
do not make staff regulate this camp beyond that or you will not be happy.
