Even if unintentional. I have had a helluva time in Mistmoore today, fighting the same mobs I have for a week. My pet is dying awfully fast and seems awfully weak, was wondering if there was anything done, possibly related to removing the reporting of double damage in the text only.

Mine is only 16 level one, but I see no difference with solo.

It was announced that this change was going in a couple of times in the past week. I don't know why all of a sudden people are surprised.

Is it only noticable with higher level pets then? I honestly have not seen a bit of difference but I am way low level at 16.

It wasn't so much I was surprised there was a nerf, if there was, I simply missed it in the patch notes then. I also had read a bug about attacks showing twice, including pet attacks, and when it was fixed I was wondering if that became an unintentional nerf as it over-corrected(think I made up a word) the issue.
No biggie.

Nerfing mage pets makes no sense with Kunark on the horizon since that is when Mages started falling behind the caster power curve. If the nerf is in fact true, Kunark will not be kind to mages.

I don't know of any planned nerfs to mage pets.

Mages are still stupidly overpowered.

Don't even want to hear about it.

I'm new here, waiting on my box edition of titanium to be delivered to my door, and I really wanted to play a mage, but if they are nerfed pretty bad now maybe I dont?

well documented mage stats exist here: http://www.xalmat.com/eqsummoners.com-old/eq1/pets-library.html and iirc they are basing the mage pets off those stats?

mages are great soloer's once you master the mechanic of it, Smokeinmirrors. dont let what people say dictate what class you want to play.

I played EQ from 99-07. Loved my ranger later on when he got his AA discs, but for Classic content I think my Mage was my favorite.

As long as it doesn't go too far, I think mage pets need a nerf.

I've seen more than once a fire pet out-tank a necro pet even though the nec has the next rank above of pet spells. i.e. 39th fire and 44th nec.

Something needs to be looked at.

Nec pet and mage pet are not comparable, apples and oranges.

I played a necro for many years and I clearly remember having pet envy, but necro pets were not made for tanking. Necros have many tools at their disposal snare, fear, mana regen, and FD.

Class always played a huge roll for necro pets as well. The warrior pets sucked, but they tanked a heck of a lot better than the rogue pets did. I loved the rogue pet for kiting though, he was amazing. Monk pets were good all around pets as well iirc.

Trust me, they are one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful class on the server.

They are THE money farming class along with a couple other casters. There is a huge difference in power between casters and melee in classic EQ. Everywhere you go, if its a money camp or mob, a mage is probably soloing it (unless its one that even mages can't solo).

This isn't whining. I'm just assuring you, you won't be a gimp at all if you play a mage. You'll be one of a million mage alts, but you won't be a gimp.

All though they might not have, it seems that the mage pets are dieing alot faster and not attacking as much as they use to...if the dev's didnt do anything with mage pets they might wana recheck files.

Was there even a patch? I thought they just changed everything back to normal after all the halloween stuff was over.

Hm this happend in SKara on Saturday.

A Mage level 30 was killing Centaur Charger ( level 30 and 31 ) for around 1 hour.

After that he was OOCing .. "Is there a spot with red mobs that are doable for a level 30 mage? These even con mobs are not even worth doing them"

I think mages are in no fact really bad soloers.

Outdoors, any Necro worth his salt should be able to solo red con mobs at 30. If you can land snare you can either fear or aggro kite it. Indoors mages obviously have the advantage because they don't need to move the mob.

I soloed red cons from 16+ - Darkness/Heat/Leach/Fear lines hit nearly everything as long as it isnt more than 6 levels above you. You may get chains of darkness resists every now and then, but soloing reds is definitely worth it. Never had heat blood resisted on a mob within 6 levels of me.
