View Full Version : Which Velious Faction combo did you choose?

Just curious how the Velious faction layout is at the moment. I know this probably isn't applicable to end game raiders and others who jump around as needed.

If there is some combo I missed, let me know.

faction is for poverty casuals looking for instant gratification.

Kill everything, loot stuff, acquire EQ pixels and server firsts. Worry about turn ins later.

Not everyone is server royalty, and some have different play styles.

But honestly if you have turn ins to do like BoB or faction armor get the shit you need then go hard and grind it out over a weekend or something.

Turn in everything then you're good to kill whatever. Only exceptions are like Tormax or Yelinak faction but you only need one person to do Yelinak turn ins for items anyways so w/e.

Dwarves and Dragons are by far the easiest.
Having an alt allied with Giants is also quite nice for spells and a few goodies.

CoV + Coldain. I doubt I'll do much in the way of armor questing, I just don't want to be kos to Wuoshi or the mobs near the CS ring. Coldain faction just kind of comes with the territory.

why's that?

why's that?I assume because, when you sneak from behind, you can become indifferent to an NPC, and dubious means you will not get attacked when they or a friend turn around.

In Crystal Caverns, for instance, everyone starts Dubious to the dwarves. If you sneak from behind, you can shop with them. Otherwise they will insult you and refuse.

The range sucks on this although it's a fun toy to have. You'll probably body aggro before you get a chance to throw.

Only faction I care about is Siren's Grotto.

Alliance Neck + 0 kills in SG = Dubious to entire zone and you can walk around freely.

I will continue to lol at requests for Succors across the zone and just run through saving 6-7 minutes of med time. Totally worth it.

Sad thing is if you're high enough in levels, you shouldn't need succor.

SoW before zoning in, and have inviz ready to deal with the ulthorks (SP?).

Then begin the mad dash/swim up the water column.

After you're out of the water, take five seconds and then make the mad dash to WW.

If you're under level 50, then yes it is probably best to succor across. More importantly being under level 50 is going to have health risks past Sirens anyway.

In Conclusion, the necklace is a neat toy but beyond that, killem all and let their deities sort it out. Veeshan especially, her brood's fun to kill.

There are 3 sea horses in that gauntlet, if they aggro on the server tick you could be facing 6-12 rounds of 240~ each. Enough to kill basically any caster class. Plus the possibility of being stunned... And they also can out swim a max swimming/SoW'd player because of how they path, especially through the Z Axis as you climb the tube to jump the waterfall.

I've seen many people survive it and I've also seen many get 1 rounded or get stunned on the swim and die.

Neck is glorious to not need to deal with this at all.

Okay a necro has Harmshield. Solved.

Wizards can Succor themselves. Solved

Enchanters have runes. Solved?

Mages roll the dice and hope for a 20?

Buy a DA clicky for 250pp and move on?

Pay a druid for succor since a lot of succors can be shelled out before whatever the cost of the neck is valued at. 25k? 45k? GL finding the camp open. Things camped as much as the beads.
Excluding content just to get through a zone. I'll add this zone that has some really good drops seems rather silly. Burn them all with fire.

That's not a problem everywhere. You don't have to settle for waiting in lines; get the express pass...

There are other ways.
You can constantly jump up towards the ceiling while swimming towards the 3 seahorses until you take the dive, reducing the risk of aggro.
You can pull them all towards the right below the neutral walrus, climb up on its ledge as soon as they hit you, invis up and run left before they're back in position.
You can do the same with someone training for you.
You can follow a fellow DA / FD class person training in.
You can get a coth.

Come on guys, it's been 15 years, you know all those mechanics :p

I just try to avoid the confrontation. Not worth my time and I've got other things I'd rather do.

I get rez tells in Ice well regularly from the training that goes on in there. It may all be in fun, it may all be in angst but I want to avoid it as much as possible.

The Beads are a nice option for pulling or scouting, The neck is a great item for questing and working on faction. I didn't have either in classic, but did have the beads much much later when golden tickets and the casinos were in EQ live.

I am not saying that these items are useless just they don't have a real use for me.

I'm just fine without people knowing how easy it is to get across SG. DN zone being vacant makes me happy. Too many idiots as is spawning all the traps and training them to the zone.

Wait, some people are ACTUALLY doing just Kael Giants and Claws of Veeshan? For reals? That's got to be insanely hard.

The only real reason for alliance amulet is to werewolf form and alliance and run around in Velks with dubious faction. Makes pulling super easy.

Bumping this thread because I'm finding the poll numbers really interesting. Also the various uses of the alliance amulet is pretty neat.

SS armor is generally superior to Kael's.
Travelling through WW is easier.
You avoid bad surprises porting in WL with Wuoshi up.
Sontalak not KoS.
You open up quests with 2 factions instead of 1.

Dragon faction seems a better choice, unless you factor competition on quests (good luck on scout charisa turn-in). Though dragon quest rewards still seem better overall.

Yeah, but so many guilds raid ToV / kill WW dragons.

I would love a chance to prove this. I was super excited about Velious launch because it would be a chance for me to go giant this time, unlike dragon/dwarf like I went in the old days because that was the easy way.

Seems like everyone went dragon/dwarf though, cuz easy. And I guess the top guilds are powerful enough to just get the huge faction hits from the big nameds every time they want to switch so they just don't care.

Are there any guilds on blue that are actually giant faction? Or dwarf/giant, even? Anyone?

Thulghor

I'm doing dwarf/giant, but my guild is just doing dwarf. I'm curious about this as well.
