I am returning to EverQuest after a 15 year absence and I couldn't be more excited. I decided to roll a class I've never been before and went with Dark Elf Wizard. I am currently level 5 and looking for players to group with who don't mind my rusty game play! I am usually on around 8pm Central Standard Time. So let's group up and do this together!

Welcome home!
Are you playing on Blue or Red?

Thanks it is good to be home again! I am playing on blue. Seems like alot of Dark Elves like to solo any recommendations on where else I can go to group up and gain some exp and make the money? Also is Role Play a popular thing?

Welcome to P99!
As you are a darkie the easiest and closest place to find a group would be out in EC at the orcs. If you can gather up brave adventurers you can hit Befallen - the xp mod in there is pretty nice. I think you can start in there around level 10.

As far as roleplaying goes most do not. If you like to roleplay there are roleplayers out there and you will stumble upon them from time to time. I roleplay occasionally and have came across a fair few.

At low levels you'll likely be soloing a bit unless you are in a very popular starting area. Once you get to 12 or so and work your way to a more populated area you'll probably group, unless you'd rather solo.

I haven't seen much roleplaying. Just be careful as the staff has been very explicit that roleplaying is not an acceptable excuse for griefing/disruption/harassment, etc.

Grouping pays dividends on red. You'll likely see a bunch of people soloing with decent gear on blue and while that's good... it doesn't do much for the LFG crowd.

Sorry Swish, but this is complete nonsense. I have played on the low end scene of Blue for 2+ years and never failed to find a group. I understand your need to proselytize but there's no need to lie about it.

Ecom, gfay, or cb if you want to group right away. You can usually find people in bb also, and sometimes befallen. Helpful to bring a friend or two to befallen, though.

Sorry Thufir but you haven't seen any soloing fungi monks in MM, CoM etc? You've obviously not had the full experience of 1 person or a PL group locking down content and preventing groups from forming in areas where you usually find 5-6.

Just passing on my experiences.

1) this player is new, and a long way from mm/com
2) I don't go to mm/com precisely because they are twinking hotbeds. this is eq, there are many other places to go.

Seriously Swish, this one is just silly. Maybe you've been fighting the red/blue fight way too long to see things clearly.

1. If you played on red you'd see that everyone is welcome in groups regardless of class.
2. He's not far from MM and you've turned his thread into a rant. GJ.

Best of luck wherever you are OP, don't spend too much time on the forums <3

Oh Swish. You are just the cutest.

Regardless OP, there are a ton of groups to be found on blue. Don't worry about what Swish is saying. =)

OP expressed concern about finding groups and was told to solo to 10-12 by two others before Swish chimed in.

OP,

Best chance of grouping prior to L10 is CB. EC is hit and miss. Things pick up more 12+ because you can continue at cb or hit up unrest (a bit early) or head to Oasis.

If you decide to give red a go, faydwer or iksar land is your best bet. If you take the faydwer path, you may run into a twink ok or two, but there is an active new by defense force and justice is swift ^^.

I recently rolled red and am loving it. If you just started you might consider giving it a try. You can have one account logged into each server at the same time, so you always check it out while LFG on blue if you have trouble finding group for some reason^^ you might be surprised ^^

FWIW, I didn't like the CB blue experience; it was too crowded for my taste. EC can be hit or miss, but there are always buffs to beg for at the tunnel while you're LFG.

BB was my favorite actually. Gnoll fangs are great xp and I've seen so many spontaneous groups form there. Both of my ogres always collected other players wandering around and we did a lot of killing (the faction you get as an evildoer is a nice bonus, too - neither of my guys are KoS to Qeynos guards any more). But it's a long walk from Nek and turning in the fangs is a bit of a pain as a baddie.

I'd not tried the Qeynos route until recently and have to agree that gnoll fangs are fantastic xp. Travel shouldn't be too bad if you can find a Druid or wiz to port you. Just lay bare your noobness and you shouldn't have trouble finding a ride. Be sure to get a sow too and run like the dickens ^^

Nektulous Forest isn't much of a grouping hot spot, there are some areas with lots of bears and wolves, and a good undead camp, but I don't usually see groups there. East Commonlands happens to be one zone away, and is definitely filled with players leveling and selling their goods. This is a good place to go for a starting player on p99. Head over to the tunnel, ask someone to Bind your soul in West Freeport if you haven't already made your way there(You should not be KoS as DE Wizard). Also higher lvl players are generally kind enough to toss you those crucial buffs that will really make those starting lvls much easier.

I would say the grouping in East Commons begins about lvl 6-7ish at the orc camps. As you are lvl 5 already and probably higher now as I'm typing this you can begin there and see where the adventure takes you. The orc camps are good because the deathfist belts get you a good boost of xp through some of those lvls right before you get new spells which are always tough. The can also be sold for spell money. (The turn in is in west freeport)

I would suggest forming a group in East Commons and heading to Befallen, the xp bonus there is great and realistically a group of lvl 5-8s could start on the first floor with ease.

Another nearby location is North Ro. A group of lvl 6-9's could easily tackle the first few Derv camps.

The main challenge you might face will be breaking into camps, and sometimes youll need to ask a higher lvl to split them up for you, or have one brave soul train the mobs to guards and pull them as soon as they respawn.

I think youll do fine on blue server. There are definitely other places you could go, but staying in the location you are should be both rewarding and of ease.

To the OP. You are allowed to play Red and Blue at the same time, and it is not considered 2 Boxing.

So you can please the Red and Blue people at the same time. :p

Also, on a side note. Any reccomendations for a nice starter robe for a char with almost zero budget? For an update I joined a couple of fellow travelers and we made our way to Befallen and the exp has been great so far, we get chased out by ice bone skeleton but no casualties yet :D
