I have Feign Death with a skill of 90, but when I feign death the mob just keeps hitting me. At what skill does it work? Or are certain mobs not fooled by feign death? Fighting wisps at the moment.

Despite flopping to the ground, you'll notice that when you fail there will be a chat message saying "Soandso has fallen to the ground" or some sitch.

Also don't have attack on when you feign.

Sometimes if you're still in melee range with a mob (and this usually happens when you have 4-5 or more on you in melee range) and it melees you as you FD it cancels your FD.
Basically the mob is hitting you mid-fall and realizes you aren't really dead so they keep going after you. Try to put at least a jump's worth of distance before FDing or FD around a corner or time your FD in between hits for best effect.

Maybe this is the problem, I don't turn off attack before hitting feign death. Although Feign Death automatically turns off attack. hmm

Thanks, I haven't been getting distance from them, I just flop right in front of them.

I use a hot key set up like this
/attack (Turns off attack)
/pause
/doability # (Number where FD is)
/pause
/con (Will tell you if mob still has agro)
You can also make a hot key to lvl up monk skills easy like this
/doability # (Number where FD is)
/sit off
/doability # (Number where instill is)
/doability # (Number where sneak is)
/doability # (Number where sneak is)
Cheers

Yes its a bit counter intuitive, you must turn off Auto attack prior to FD, even thought FD turns it off for you.

I've tried making hotkeys to turn attack off like this, but often times it has backfired on me when I hit it by accident when I am NOT attacking, thus turning attack on. Just have to keep your vanilla FD key handy and be able to remember which is which on the fly.
I do love the idea of adding a /con though, I've never considered that!

Do it like this and it wont backfire.
/attack off
/doability #

Jump-Feign is your friend. Particularly jumping around corners, off ledges, etc and feigning.

Reminds me of Vanish for rogues in WoW never working...

I got it to work last night after 4 attempts. Seemed to work when I didn't get the message "Soandso has fallen to the ground". At what skill does it work 100%, or does it never work 100% where I don't get that message.

Never 100% as far as I know but at high skill levels it rarely fails. Something like 1-2% fail rate.

Not sure on the figure (might be 95%), but I had it maxed on my live 53 monk and it still failed occasionally.

Three things can go wrong.
1. YourName has fallen to the ground means your FD failed and you are basically still viewed by mobs to be alive and delicious.
2. Your attack is on and you don't turn it off before you FD. Fail or not, you are still viewed as alive and tasty.
3. A mob started casting on you before you FD and you are still in LOS (and sometimes even if you're not). In this case, unless you resist the spell, its lunchtime.

Its higher than 1-2. I don't know what it is, but you get 2 in a row just often enough sometimes at level 50 with 200 FD that 1-2 is way too low.
