this new anon thing. /who all oot (2) lvl 24's. Run there...3 anons camping Alliz. Okay /who all gukbottom (completely empty) get there...5 anon enchanters camping the entire zone. Really a HUGE waste of ppl's time so that a couple guilds can raid w/o the other knowing where they are. Anyone else feel the same way or should I just STFU?

being anon is not the issue, the issue is not being able to /w all <zone>..i really hope this wasnt put in because of what lyfe said..said guilds can hide what they are raiding..theres currently 1 raid zone at the moment, and everyone knows when vox and naggy spawns..even with kunark out it wouldnt be difficult to see where people are..let us /w all zone again plz
Is this a classic feature? I agree massive waste of people's time...

I don't know about others but when I'm in a group I don't tend to read /OOC chatter. I do however respond to camp checks in /shout (which I know does not solve the issue).

Someone that's anon is anon for a reason and most likely isn't going to respond to a camp check. That said, this argument is trivial, be thankful you can even /who a zone at all.

But, you can make a decision on whether to make that long run somewhere based on the knowledge or who is in a particular zone (whether or not they would respond to a camp check). If you can't see folks that are anon you end up running a long way for nothing. Agree with OP on this.

This is pretty freaking annoying, I really hate /anon people in general, but what really grinds my gears is people who don't respond to a camp check.
Like the other day... I did a /who all gukbottom and like 5 people lower level were in there. I asked one of them to do a CC for me, and he responded, we are doing ass/sup and one other guy responded doing EE.
Well, I go yeah! lets go get frenzy or lord or something. So I run my ass all the way to guk and get there and do a /who (which shows anon people) however there were only 3 people in the zone all <40. When I did a CC, only EE was taken.
The rest of my group arrives shortly after me and by the time we get down to the safe hall before frenzy, someone else in the zone shouts CC.
Obviously we are heading to the frenzy camp so I reply "frenzy."
After shouting "Frenzy" a <nameless enchanter> throws a PMS bitch fit in shout that he is at that camp and we shouldn't call a camp we aren't at. (Mind you he hasn't responded to 3+ Camp checks or was even in the zone when I got there, and my group is in safe hall about to ivu to frenzy). He has a couple PMS's spread out by 10 minute breaks because he was probably masturbating to anime porn while afk camping frenzy.
It really wasn't a big deal since we took lord/am, but it would be nice if people either a) responded to camp checks, or b) didn't bleed all over gukbottom when someone mistakenly thinks the camp is open because they are too busy jacking it to anime porn to reply to a camp check.

Right now only around 1/4th of the players are /anon and its already pretty bad with you having to run to the actual zone to see if the camp is taken. Everyone who is ok with this imagine this scenario. If tomorrow everyone went /anon and ignored all CCs it would ruin the server. Now you have to run to a zone and clear to the actual mob to see if the camp is free. Lets take it one step further and everyone just hides and makes themselves invisible until 10 seconds before the mob they are camping spawns. Now you have to run to the zone clear to the mob and wait for it to spawn to see if its camped.
Have fun spending 2 or 3 hours to find a camp. I know it already takes me about half an hour and 2 or 3 teleports to find something for me to kill during peak hours and I am a druid.

Groups should always take preference over farmers at being at a camp.
If you want to farm the whole of a zone, go run your own emulated server.

Since you want to cry about this here where it doesn't belong, even though it was days ago, I feel the need to respond.
I was not anon. I had in my /afk message that I was camping frenz and playing MW2 between spawns. Is that against the rules? I did not see any camp checks, though I may have left the zone momentarily or switched out to my alt or something. If I had come back and people had been at Frenz, I would have accepted that and moved on. Instead, I came back and went /afk because I wanted to kill some more people in MW2. When it was time, I returned to keys and killed the placeholders that spawned. I saw a camp check and before I could respond you called the camp I was at.
I was quite annoyed, as I'm sure you would be, that someone called the camp I was at and had just cleared. No one else was around, no one messaged me, and as I said I didn't see a camp check until the one you responded to without being there.
When people call a camp they're not at, it really annoys me. If you're waiting for group members to show up, you are not fucking camping anything. You are waiting. This is arguable if you're sitting at the spawn waiting for a replacement, but not when your group hasn't begun yet and you're waiting at a safe spot in the zone.
For content that actually pertains to this thread: I actually posted this as a bug in the bug forum the day of the patch that it went in with a month or so ago. I was surprised no one but me had a problem with it, but apparently no one else realized it until now. I'm 99% certain /who all worked in classic, the way it did on this server, until that patch.

I don't expect to keep more than one camp. If I'm sitting at a camp though and clearing the mobs, I don't think a group should be able to take it from me just because I'm solo and they're a group. Obviously I wouldn't claim more than one named though. I think common sense and courtesy would go a long way. As you can see from some of the posts here, these are qualities missing from many of the people currently playing, and not just enchanters.

AFK farmers on camp checks is just an annoyance that you gotta deal with. No one's gonna stay watching the game constantly when there are 28 minutes between spawns. No one is necessarily in the wrong, its just an annoyance you gotta deal with. If someone is farming multiple named like frenzy/lord, just send them a message that you would like to take one, and which one do they prefer to keep. Being polite saves 90% of arguments. If they say you can't have one, then you can break out the "sorry, I am taking one, so make your choice or I'm taking x."
It IS annoying though for people to claim spawns they haven't even arrived at. When I was farming frenzy a lot it seemed like half the time I called CC and someone would say frenzy is taken, but when I go check it out I see no one there and a full spawn. How bout saying "moving to xyz in 5 min if it is open"

I didn't even mention your name in the post so funny that you respond. Maybe you haven't spent enough time playing a class that is completely dependable on groups, but it is extremely standard that if you have a group in a zone, no one responds to camp check, and you are actively moving to that camp, you reply to any CC with the camp you are heading to. In no way was it cool of you to throw the PMS bitch fit you did in /shout. A simple /tell to anyone in my group saying "im already here, sorry" would have sufficed and the issue would have been over.

Get to the zone you want to camp in and see if the camps are taken. This is the only way, time and time again proven to be the only way.
EQ =/= EZMODE. EQ = PAIN AND STRUGGLE AND SADISM, and EMUEQ is even more so. Accept it and you will be at peace. Struggle and you will sink deeper!

Lyyfeleech I'm disappointed to see you've joined the ranks of the anons. Just messin'. :p
But seriously, can we revisit this issue? In classic you could /who all zone. It used to work on this server. Is there a reason it was taken out? Was it to accommodate raid guilds that don't want others to know where they're at?
It's one of the most annoying things implemented currently and the absolute most nonsensical.

In classic you could /who all zone
I don't think so?
Interview from april 13th, 2000.
>>>A kind of "/who all zone" command, that would either list, or at least give a count of the players in a specific zone (without one being in that zone). In an overcrowded environment, it would save casual players a great deal of time if they could look to find a less-used zone to hunt in without having to travel to it first.
We're still looking into the possibility of this. We like the idea and think it would enhance gameplay for those that choose to find greener pastures.
I don't remember them ever fixing it, at least when I played. Could be wrong.
The Situation
02-16-2010, 01:17 PM
Hmmm, looks like I stand corrected then. But still, I'll plead for you to put it back in. With the increased server population there are fewer and fewer spots to get exp. Over 500 on last night and I had to run across 7 zones looking for open camps. *sad face*

3 people, non anon
/tell persona "Excuse me, I'm considering moving to "zone"; could you tell me how many people are in the zone please?"
/reply "There are 40 people in this zone."
/tell persona "Thank you. I guess I won't come, then."
Not a surefire way, but it gives you a better idea.

Roleplay and anon always hid what zone you were in. It was a key element of being in a raiding guild. If we wanted to know where a competing guild was, we didn't /who all temple, /who all kael, etc. We had to send scouts to various zones.
Allowing people to see roleplay people by /who all-ing a zone would cripple raiding guild competition. If the top guild can see where other guilds are at all times, experience and faster mobilization allows them to use other guilds' scouts/trackers to find raid targets and steamroll them. The ability to truly hide your location is a key strategy for lower tier raid guilds.
