It's a server designed and geared for hardcores who like to twink fungi monks, those who raid with a load of rules upon rules, with long queues for camps and longer queues for new raiding guild recruits who won't see a piece of Velious raid loot til Christmas.

This is why you shouldn't give a suggestion if you haven't played there. Classes are so unbalanced in PvP, people sit on others bind locations, the PvP that actually happens, happens once a week and the people come to the forums shortly after to brag about an item they got after the PvP was over and pretty much everyone plugged or zoned and 2 people got YTed by 15.

You're mixing the current state of PvP on Red and the fact that Red simply has PvP. Is it awful PvP? Of course. EQ isn't designed for PvP but the fact that Red HAS it means there's some actual competition. Trying to get FTE's is hardly "competition" and more a product of which guild has the lowest ping tagger.

Blue has more of a sense of competition because its an even playing field. Regardless of all the loot people have, it only takes FTE and numbers. If you have the numbers to kill the dragon and you get FTE, you can beat the competition..

Do you play on Blue? Cause there really isn't any sense of competition whatsoever. It's literally boiled down to who can amass the most members, overall, and how many of them respond to batphones. Rampage, Taken, BDA, especially, and somewhat Forsaken, have so many members that batphoning can result in decent numbers at ungodly hours, and massive numbers at prime time.

If the "competition" on Blue is who can recruit the most level 60s, then you're right!

Before I get the irritable reply of, "THEN GO AWAY", or something similar, I like P99 and I am ok with its current state. However, it isn't competitive. It isn't even close.

If Red had more members than what it currently has it'd be an easy decision on what server has more fun factor and competition. Assuming an increase in population isn't just an increase to Empire's numbers. :p

I have played and tried leading and raiding with a guild on blue last year. It was utterly toxic, disgusting, and draining to my soul. It is not worth it for someone with a life to sit in line for a rotation, poopsock mobs, deal with countless guild leaders walking on eggshells just for a chance at one mob every 2months.

The process it took JUST to get into the rotation was horseshit. I had to suck up to everyone on the R rotation just so my guild could be deemed "acceptable and on trial" for a chance on the rotation. It made me feel like I was swallowing my pride just for pixels and at that point i was no longer having fun.

I don't have the time or patience to log in at 2 or 3AM on a weekday on the drop of a dime because I got batphoned. That is not how raiding should be...

I played on red on and off while I was playing on blue last year and had a lot of fun. I came back to P99 after a one and a half year break and went immediately to red. So much more relaxing. No long lines for a camp. Groups to be had if you look. I am not sure what the high end raiding competitive scene looks like, but I don't care. It has to be better than 20 guilds waiting in line on a rotation.

You aren't reading what I'm saying. EQ's mechanics, even its game engine, are poorly optimized for PvP. PvP in EQ was an afterthought added in by the developers. What does "true fusion" even mean? The EQ devs just enabled player killing in EQ. That's it. There's no additional gameplay mechanics implemented besides looting currency from people you kill. There are no objectives or additional content. You can kill people while they camp an item or you can participate on one side of a fight involving two masses of players mashing their number keys and/or jiggling their mouselook in order to avoid spell interruptions.

Or a hardcore mode of EQ, if you like.

PvP in EQ is just another auxiliary component of the main draw of the game: getting loot. That's why it's a dungeon crawler. There are no objectives to accomplish in PvP, and quite frankly, EQ's combat system is not conducive to particularly deep PvP anyways. If you think otherwise then you clearly don't have experience with games that do PvP much better than EQ ever did.

Which loops back to my main point: if you play EQ primarily for the PvP then you're essentially watching a pornography for the plot. I'm sure PvP can add some fun to the dungeon-crawling aspect, but if you don't like what is essentially the core of the game itself, then I don't understand why you're playing in the first place. Blue is good for the casual gamer. You can't afk between solo kills on red for fear of being ganked. It's nice as a casual gamer to just play for the fun of it without having to worry about other players ruining the experience. I think this is a large part of why blue has more population.

Red is probably fun but I just don't have the time to invest in that being a parent with kids that interrupt me whenever I play lol :)
