So hello guys I've actually never played any everquest games but I heard that the first everquest was really focused on group play and this is something I miss in the modern mmorpgs so here I am. I've also read that this game is pretty hard compared to any other mmo really so I wondered if you would have any tips for a total newbie.

Hey Alphan,

First, welcome to the server. I would suggest checking out the Newbie guide on the Project1999 wiki if you haven't already, its a good resource for new players.

Also, I would also suggest making some in game friends who are more experienced with the game. They can help you along. Often the guy who looks like a noob next to you has years of experience with EQ.

Other than that, remember to take your lumps in stride. You will die; you will lose experience.

Good luck and have fun =)

Welcome friend! EQ is the best. Make lots of friends. Some tips:

Train the Sense Heading skill at your Class GM with 1 point. Then, put the sense heading skill on your hot bar and bind that button to the same key you use for your forward movement. This will allow you to train the skill quickly and prevent you from getting lost (sometimes).

Be gregarious. There will be awesome people, there will be sucky people.

Also, roleplay it up!!!

Tips -

1. Remap your auto-attack key
2. Press h for hail, don't type it out (especially before remapping auto-attack)
3. When lost in a zone, find a wall and follow it until you get somewhere
4. It's okay to ask for help in OOC
5. Learn how to duck, jump, and strafe-run (hit up arrow, side arrow, and ctrl key to strafe diagonally - it will save your life!)
6. Make friends and keep track of them with /friend (name), /who friend all
7. Ignore annoying people ( /ignore (name) )

Hey there,

I'm also quite new to EQ so I can't give you many tips,
just share the great experience that it is to play this game
in a group. Since I started playing in July I have found
lots of fun in groups. Solo is good too, but hard to compare in
my opinion. So my advice is to try to group as much as u can

Best advise so far. :) Other tips are awesome also. Guilds help you out with plat, gear, groups, info. Pretty hard to beat.
