Introducing the Project 1999 Department of Fun!

The p99 DoF mission is simple: HAVE FUN AT ALL COSTS!

A center for interactive game shows, steel-cage death matches, 1v1 red server dishonor matches, impromptu shenanigans, and general mischievousness, the p99 DoF exists to serve the playerbase as a public meeting ground to discuss, gauge interest, plan, and execute player-run and GM-assisted events.

It is the intention of the DoF to be an organic, community driven and community led entity. Please use this thread to contribute ideas and discuss possible future DoF events.

Keep your eyes peeled for future DoF posts as events are planned.

GM Requests:
I am looking to continue what Greengrocer started and have a fight night on Sun OCT 4th 8pm CST during the anniversary weekend.

I believe the people loved it and I feel like it is something we should continue. I would love to have you there and be apart of this. I haven't seen you around at all and you know everyone loves it when you drop the DTs. The plan is to have it in a cage if one can be found.

Fight Venue
There are a few other place that might be considered like the

Arena in Lake Rathe, which already has PVP enabled!

The top ToS in Iceclad is a very nice spot but would require a summon up there would be easily managed but if the turn out is big it might get crowded.

Obviously EC tunnel as it is close to a city and ring. It is easy access but I feel like this location is lazy.

Hot Topic:
I haven't decided if we want to do Bum Fights or Actual Matches. Online bracketing software can solve the confusion of what happens the last time with all the chaos.
Streaming:
The only other thing that would be a problem for me is streaming it. My upload speed isn't even a Mb. So I will need someone to host the stream for me. Which I am sure someone would love to help out and be apart of this awesomeness.

Prizes:

Prizes aren't on the table as of yet, I haven't been playing on the server long enough to acquire anything of value minus the fact that I can port. I was thinking maybe a title for the month or maybe a guise, apparently people really like them, I will leave that up to you guys.

Possible Entry Fee:
Next question would be entry free. Allowed, not Allowed, I feel like something that could potentially be this big would need to be managed, secured and monitored. The entry fee would give great incentive for me to get some sort of staff setup up and pay them with the entry fee for time and effort with the help everything getting split to them with no left overs.

I can stream but unfortunately I also have a low upload speed and I tend to get desynced or go LD with large numbers of people in a zone while I'm streaming.

Bum fights are fun but transporting a bunch of level 1 chars anywhere can be troublesome. Plus everyone just makes monks because they can punch =\

We did a silent Beta test of "Where in the World is Sikorsky" and to my knowledge only 1 person found my corpse (there maybe more but they didnt know what they were seeing perhaps). Hopefully more saw it!

I want to post a tease of some of the madness that is going to come from this!

First of all I want to make a quick mention of Moregan's eagerness and awesomeness to do something like this on our box! I gotta thank you for being you and making this all possible! Also of course the rest of the staff behind the curtain! Sirken and everyone else Sirk - all you guys and gals! Thanks!

Second of all, Below is a SS of a test of one of the many bizarro games that we came up with in our first meeting! As soon as we arrived in the arena and saw the squares beneath our giant feet, we knew exactly what must be done. 2v2 Turn based EQ PVP..

We quickly made a rule each player rolls /rand 4.. that determiners how many 'action points' you get to spend.. if you roll a 3, you can for example move 2 spaces & cast 1 spell. Each player takes turns randoming & spending their points... if you are melee you can move 3 spaces to close the gap between you and a caster.. try to get next to someone and use an action point to turn on auto attack!.. If you're the melee's target, better hope your turn rolls around before you die!

It worked ridiculously well. Filb won our test round! ( I only had 40% mana when we started! Who knew the game would actually work out! I was so bummed. Filb was 2 spaces away, I had my final Dot Ready to cast, 1 action point to cast it with, and BOOM i was OOM!) he rolled a 3, walked up and beat me to death.

Ok Ok - I don't want to post about how much fun WE had, but I do want to post about some of the stuff we are going to be doing with YOU ALL and it's going to be really really fun. We Promise!

One of the most fun events I remember from Live was the Naked Newbie PvP Halfling race from Freeport to Qeynos. No ports, no spells, no buffs, no use of the PoK books. All participants were Level 1 Halfling Warriors and you had to turn in your Discord book and you were then transported to the Arena in Freeport.
First player to turn in their Newbie Note to the Guide in the Qeynos Arena wins 1K Plat for their Main.
There were dead level 1 hobbits spread all accross Antonica! Runnyeye was a slaughter house.

we were about to do an amzing game of super corpse ball with DoF until moregans untimely demise, Those pics just had the most corpses on my hard drive :)

Somehow, we'll figure out a way to make Supercorpseball a thing.. somehow!

Rules:

Spawn a corpse in the center of a sanctioned area
teams race to drag corpse/kill eachother to each teams desginated guide
when a corpse is dragged to a guide, it is despawned teams have a short period of time to regroup before a new corpseball is spawned.

It was gonna be maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

You can do that with just a regular corpse and some pvp flagging brah
