Is it true that sirens gets nerfed at some point? If so, what are the details of the nerf? I remember hearing some talk about this.

Dec 2000, Velious launch

FEBRUARY 2, 2001

Update: We also made several changes to Siren's Grotto to address player concerns with the difficulty of the zone

from JUNE 27, 2001

Sirens Grotto has been changed a bit. It should be a more interesting zone now.

It gets nerfed big time. Becomes easier to mez enemies, and ice servants stop casting 500 dmg AE.

Sounds lame. Keep it hard, N.

When it's nerfed it gets renamed to "Sirken's Grotto."

Keeping it hard is lame and not classic.
Nobody uses the zone other than to cross. The "nerf" makes it usable.

There were 30+ people there last night and at least 3 groups of players, that's just false.

It's a really good place to get BP gems, and Wavecrasher and Seahorse belt are really nice too. Just better suited for a small raid.

Well I know they didnt say anything in the notes but I checked anyways.

Taking a group into Siren's a couple days ago went poorly due to a Cleric who was tabbed out reading websites most the time and who clearly wasn't interested in staying focused. Taking a second group last night of mostly the same people but with a different, attentive Cleric had zero problems fighting Mermaids, Sirens, Seahorses, Walruses, and such things. Siren's seems mostly usable in its present form but with the caveat that folks can't phone it in and sit there gaming at minimal effort like they can in many other zones. If you want to be semi AFK tabbed out reading Reddit or something, stick to Karnor's.

"Icy" elementals are, however, a problem. They come with a huge damage shield and on one occasion a combined dozen-plus Cancel Magic casts from several people failed to remove it for some unknown reason. After some experimentation we decided to avoid those for the time being. They're just not worth the hassle.

Must be a new bug.

Last I was in there Annul was working just fine in regards to removing the DS.

Mark of Karn removes that DS. They are rather tame after that.

I hope your cleric bought the spell in Kunark or has a Velious BP. It has a ton of viability in Velious.
