Fans.

You can't buy classic EQ, it's not available anywhere else, therefore there's no basis for it being "stealing."

Those stats are pretty old too, taken from the original article.

At the time of this posting, there are 33,768 Accounts and 73,279 Characters. There are also 75,674 Deleted Characters.

There are 1952 level 50's. 1720 of those have logged in within the last 3 months.

I feel less special now that I know I only account for 0.05% of that :(

This is fantastic.

I just started playing on Project 1999 this last Sunday and I am having a blast. A friend and I have been waiting for this since a little after Luclin came out (having started in 1999) and were very disappointed when we read about Progression servers going beyond Velious. We have played many many MMOs and they all fell short after a little while, they just couldn't fill the void. Within a day playing on this server I feel completely at home.

Thank you for all your hard work to make and continue to make this happen.

You guys have done an incredible job already. This is what was asked for when Sony launched the progression servers. I think the decision is wise to stop at Velious. I'm sure a majority of old school players would agree that Velious was the pinnacle of Everquest and Luclin started the downslope, gradual at first then it snowballed.

Keep up the good work.
