it currently does not do full damage when you hit a sitting person
it should always do full damage when you hit a sitting person
it used to do this like two years ago, but then somehow it got broken along the way
please fix

i think it was doing over the actual max damage to sitting players two years ago - like a 15 damage piercer would double duelist for 1150 or something, which is way over the actual cap.
I think I've seen like 1030's top end with a 15 dmg piercer. But yeah, you can miss and land hits for 15 on people sitting when you're wielding a 2hder. on live people paid dearly for sitting or being caught unawares by a rogue

can confirm since velious that I have duelisted someone for over 1100 non sitting, so its definetly over 1030

yeah, i think in classic/kunark, it assumed you had max atk and did a theoretical max hit, which wasn't usually possible back then, but it's an easily achieved value when people have buffs like VoG, call of the predator, avatar, and aura of battle items
the fix was supposed to make it do max damage by your actual stat calculation, but i guess it ended up being broken to where there's basically no difference between sitting and standing for calculating melee damage
and for what it's worth, i think 1106? was the highest damage a duelist backstab could do per hit

1106 sounds about right, on another note its pretty annoying duelist backstabbing someone that was sitting for double 388s

I'm not able to find the source atm, but I do recall a GM or guide mentioning that sitting players don't take max damage.
Maybe this was one of the few classic things that were intentionally adjusted for balance?

yeah, this is actually a colgate bug post i can get behind. this is classic as much as i can remember and should remain classic, full damage hits while sitting have always been a thing and you should never miss while sitting either? i've missed backstabs and kicks on my monk while someone is sitting, makes no fucking sense.

hit a sitting naked caster today with a tstaff while innerflamed for double 133.. which is the minimum hit
max hit should have been like double 347

Just tested sit damage for a minute. it's hitting for max on naked characters with no AC.
AC is playing way too big of a factor, the mitigation seems way too high when sitting.
Logs from testing with Xepiz, he's a naked human warrior sitting.

all hits were from when he was sitting down, and it did max 540 backstab damage, this is on a rogue with 255 dex, 255 str. we tried frontal slashing and piercing next.

I also backstab Shnarf, plate wearing halfling cleric (Not sure how much AC he has) while he is sitting.

single, not max damage, AC seems to be an INSANE factor.

So AC is the difference I'm assuming, but the mitigation is insane in PvP.

AC mitigation should actually be higher than it is now
but a sitting player should get hit for max every single time, regardless of AC/gear

Should be full max on sitting target. It used to work now it doesn't. This can be greatly abused using a druid to PL and just sit over and over (taking minimum hits instead of max) with self thorns + other dses stacked. Ain't classic.

AC is being incorrectly applied to sitting targets in regards to the backstab skill is what we have data on in this thread, posted by ducktv. (Max-hit problem on sitting players aside, which we already know needed a fix per Telin et al)
Its like AC goes on steroids. Interesting. Some type of AC/mitigation multiplier looks to be at work for sitting backstab targets. I assume this is a change Alecta pushed through, which is now obsolete and not classic in Velious.
I would be conerned about a max-hit fix not addressing this additional problem AC/mitigation calculation. Will need further examination I reckon.

this guy has no clue wtf he is talking about
this was a change alecta made because its not classic and it was reverted why did devs here just remove alecta's pvp code because a bunch of red99 melles are crying about this

he didn't remove doing a max hit on sitting, that was a bug that started well over a year after he disappeared

this is what I was looking for, it was an intended change and because alecta went to play in rl people complained like colgate and some dev here must have reverted this change back

I think this should also apply to sitting npcs (e.g. pets), at least according to an enchanter guide I was saw recently.
