ni hao pals

Does anyone here connect from China? Past or present.

Wondered if their "great firewall" blocks P99 or not.

xie xie

I play from China, TX. Back in 1998, Disney even built a Great Wall at our middle school that was used for filming a Mulan VHS release party. Not sure what gets more Chinese than that.

I played P99 from my hotel when I was in Shanghai for 3 weeks a few years back. The lag sucks (their "great" firewalls are overloaded), but they didn't block it then, could be different now, if they do there are probably countless VPNs/proxies you could use to get around it.

I used to play with folks who lived in Hong Kong, so it's definitely possible.

I had a guy who played from China help me do the Goblin Gazughi Ring camp (it only took me an hour to get the ring to drop and he showed up ~30 minutes into my camp).
Oddly enough, he would go linkdead every time I typed "America". Coincidence?

There have been small communities of chinese players that have quietly come and gone since this server started. There's still a small guild of chinese players that play randomly. <Galactica> iirc

There is a few EQemu servers knocking around which are "chinese language only" CEQ has quite a healthy population, but unless you know chinese its quite impossible to play

Hong Kong doesn't have censored Internet. Hong Kong is its own city and is not under Chinese law.

Its looking that way, a smaller city on the Eastern front, near Korea/Japan/etc. I'll bring back someone to help me farm EQ plat among other things ;)

Paradise of Nameless, Kylin Eyes, Lost Danger Soldier

I remember these 3, and the name Decade also rings a bell as a guild.

China isn't blocked from the whole world. It's not PRK.

Mao still plays.

There was a healthy Japanese population on Veeshan back when I played ^^ Not sure if Veeshan is still a server or it it was absorbed into another one with all the merges.

I just moved back to the US from China (mainland, not HK or Taiwan) and was playing there for a bit before I came home. If I recall correctly I could do it without using a VPN, which you can't do on live servers. The connection wasn't great but you didn't need to do anything to get around the firewall.

Thanks guys. I'd be interested to see what my ping would be out there. Red won't be easy with 200-250+

Baler
11-12-2015, 04:25 PM
Is there anyone who plays red with a 250+ latency? How does this effect them in pvp?
I recall seeing some post about someone who played from new zealand or something and people were complaining about them having a high ping advantage? Maybe I got it wrong but if that's the case. Everyone with a high ping should play RED!.
Fixed- Everyone Should Play Red.

I am chinese player who still on P1999 blue . the "Great wall" now effect us . Sometime we can't find the sever list when we log on . So we use VPN .

Sometimes , means 10days in a month maybe ok without VPN.

we have more than 15 guys play on the blue now . Just leveling and do some small camp .
