What is the real rule on camps?

A little background. There was a group last night in mistmoore pond area. We pulled too much and 2 players died, the rest zone'd out for safety.

A few minutes went by, where the character that I was playing (one that died), was running back from my bind in Gfay. Once I got back there the rest of my group was already sitting back at the pond, same spot as before.

But then we noticed another player walking though our area, grabbing familiars, then gargoyles, then walking into the narrow path area to pull more familiars.

We asked this player to stop, using /say to even avoid putting it in ooc.

The player explained that we had taken too long to get back there and that he had taken over our camp. (Keep in mind this is one dude and one friend who was with him, so 2 players.)

He said something about a 7 minute rule? But to be honest, we didn't take 7 minutes in my opinion but I didn't check.

Anyway, the guy ended up fussing about it in /ooc for like an hour or 2 and it was super lame.

I'm not gonna name names unless he gets on here and starts it first.

What's the rule here?

Technically if the whole group died, or some died and the group was forced to zone; the camp is forfeit.

Dick move, but technically the guy was not wrong.

Yeah, super lame but it's legit. I had an alt group a while back in highpass at the orc camp. Everyone in the group was encumbered so we ran to vendor at one of the inns. We get back less than 5 mins later and a 60 necro is there killing orcs. Explained we just went to vendor and he said "too bad". Nothing we could do about it.

remember their name, later in your characters eq life you'll often run into these same people when they need a group or something.

the pay back feels great

Ok, thanks for letting me know. It was strange set of circumstances because others in the zone who were listening were voicing support for us, but technically this guy was within the rules.

They would have probably been in pvp range on red, you could have retaken the camp by force rather than having to be submissive to rules that benefit a minority.

Just a thought if you'd like a bit more control of things like this in future.

The rule on camps in red server is pvp them for it. Most people log off even groups of yellow/red cons if you have the element of surprise cauze scared.

Also I thought on blue the full grp took the camp. Never seen PnP enforced on blue though. So IDK.

Yes, because when you've just started out on Red and are still wearing your rags while grouping in MM you can not only lose your camp, but also get killed several times by that Empire twink alt before finally having to leave the zone.

So goog.

Don't act like the PvP aspect is always beneficial, Swish. New players in MM tend to get their s#$t pushed in.

I killed people on a lvl 14 wizard without any gear at all, newbie dagger* and small clothes I took of the backs of screaming orcs, they were also yellow, and logged/ran gave me my camp :)

If that happens and your group can't shake them, then depending on level just loot up and head to Unrest. Even a wiped group that XP'd for 30 minutes is still ahead on red versus their blue counterparts who are pulling efficiently unhindered. Bless the XP bonus.

Again though to emphasize, get your pumice ready, dispel the shit out of them with whatever you have...they aren't so tough buffless.

a lvl 20 war with a fine steel 2hander can take on a fungi twink, a lvl 20 cleric can almost do it, but it's usually a stalemate.

If ur not bad at pvp.

Too bad a lot of people get discouraged because their not use to dieing so much.

/pras the exp bonus though, you wont even notice it, you may not get any levels one day, but get 10 the next, you will learn to have fun on red if you can stick with it

Rule of Thumb: If it's not already tagged by another player, go pull it and tell everyone who complains to fuck off.

nada, only takes one person to claim a camp, doesnt matter what the group size is as long as you can hold down the mobs. people kept trying to pull that crap on me when i would solo/duo camp moat in CoM.

Why not get a full group for faster XP? Oh wait, this is blue server where you all exclude each other if you're twinked. Good luck with your LFGs.

im not twinked its my main, the only expensive item i have is a goblin gazughi ring i bought from leveling plat. its just way faster exp to charm solo for that character, and if i duo with a cleric its fastest exp in game next to bard kiting. theres groups going on at all levels all the time. red nerds be propagandizing again.

if one is pling the other its obvs not a group ide 'take' 'gm' 'arbitration' at that point more than likely both are going to get a shitty deal and the nerdface who is being the douche wil just go elsewhere or log in rage, u will get the camp eventually

I've spent a lot of time in MM as a newb in rags, and what you describe hasn't happened to me.

Easy to get in a group there, and even a massive twink can't take on 4-6 dudes at once. If you solo, probably more likely to happen, but why the F are you soloing on red?

Is that another reason to roll on Red? The immediate 5 other players waiting for you to login after creation to group with you throughout your entire Red life?

Wow! How do you guys work that out logistically? After a certain level, are you then required by Red rulesets to go to a newbie zone, find a new player, and immediately begin a friendship with them?

On blue, people who are new to the server, usually have to go out and make friends. Wow, Red IS superior guys! They have premade friends ready for you to avoid situations like being camped by twinks!

Lots of peeeveeepeeee in sirens, dhampyre in mm, cobalt scar, ww, DN, chardok, not sure u could check the leaderboard. But rather than being a business opporitunity on blue, the old world is just empty because the new world is bigger, but a lot of old world places are filling up again.

If you want to peeveepee on red u could just make a level 5 toon and have peeveepeee allday. There's even a lot of traffic in dwarfland, at the steamfont portal, and in WC at the druid and wiz portals.

People are more interested in playing the game and just because our community is more mature and not based on farming the crap out of the low level game to sell to children online doesn't mean its empty.

It's legit. Thriving.

I'll PM u list of the loot I've acquired since Vel launch if desired. Lines are a myth. Just like Red99's "thriving" population.

Played on red in classic and kunark.

Same shit show no matter the era.

Just now everyone seems extra desperate to recruit more folks since one guild (per usual) is the super dominate force...because they farm pixels.

Shameful pixels.

There was talk on Sirken's stream of anti-plug mechanics (as in you'd probably appear whether you liked it or not and stay LD for X seconds)

Would make the server more desirable.

I mean I haven't played RECENTLY but plug and play was the name of the game for like 75% of the server when I did.

Check that list and tell me, if you know, how many of those guys only camped in CB, Unrest, and MM.

Feel free to click on their names and see what zones their kills were coming in.

Let me know when reality hits.
