Just wanted to say thank you and congrats to the staff of p99 for this great milestone, and ask the community how they came to discover this wonderful server.

I remember finding out about the server on an obscure eq2 flames thread back in 2010. I never imagined p99 would continue to grow into what it is today. Big props to staff for what they have accomplished here.

Was feeling nostalgia for old EQ and was browsing old videos on youtube and ran across a p99 video.

Was doing Rift beta back early 2011, and general channel went to the typical which MMO is better trash. Couple of us mentioned EQ, someone sent me a tell telling me about this P99 thing they played occasionally. That was that.

Its been a while. I believe it was the combination of a nostalgic feeling and a lucky google search hit. There also might have been a link found on the eqclassic.org forums.

Last time I felt like playing EQ was in 2009 and I saw this thing online, but it wasnt ready yet.. So I played live for about a year.

Then I quit cus live sucked -- fast forward to 2014 and p99 was up and running strong as ever! I have since quit my job, divorced my wife and don't tell her but it was me that drowned our kid on our father daughter "fishing trip".

I was in the top eq2 raiding guild, ranked top 3 world wide for my class, I was burnt out and tried eq2 pvp for a change, someone suggested I google p99 YouTube clips and after watching them I was determined to try it !!!

Pvp has opened my eyes to a whole new gaming experience... I'll never know what I saw in PVE, I guess it's fun when you don't know what to expect, but on a 16 year old elf sims, pvp is never old and always new and exciting

I was talking to my wife about how nothing since has had the "wow" factor and I searched to find EQ stuff and found this.

^ Although I tried The Sleeper emu first a couple years back because everyone on there trashed p99 so bad at the time. Little did I know... :D

Got sick of paying for SoE's recycleware about 5 years ago. Found this on google!

I was feeling nostalgic, so I tried Live. It was awful and nothing like the EQ I remembered. I went to write a bad review on steam, and saw someone else's review that mentioned P99.

Had been playing an excellent Linux-native MMO called Eternal Lands. For the kind of scale it was being built on, it had a great immersing feel and all the grind you could hope for.

As I started to reach the end-game there, I sort of ran out of things to explore. I would rant in my guildchat about the wild uncharted expanses of Norrath, and eventually found EQEmulator.com while browsing for some free-to-play.

I did [PEQ] The Grand Creation at first, but saw P99 had a much higher player count. I started on Blue and leveled two characters to mid 40's over eight months or so but got disenchanted by what I understood to be an overpopulated end-game with all sorts of schedules and rules.

Then I rolled Red. I have never looked back. Thank you Nilbog!

I was following the EQClassic project for a long time when it seemed to really slow down a bunch in terms of development, and I believe it was somewhere in their forums that I saw that this server had just launched. I've rarely gone back to that site since, though they have made significant progress

Randomly got the itch to play again back in ~2009 and remembered that EQEmulator was a thing. Googled and found a thread on the EQEmu forums (I think?) about Project 1999 needing beta testers.

How many of those 1 million made it to level 2? So many good names "on hold" that have been forgotten about by people who no longer play... personally I'd axe any level 1s holding a tome of discord (likely to not be mules) and let the name pool have some half decent ones in.

Sincerely,

Agalauigxx (all the good names were taken)

I found P99 while looking up a quest on Allakhazam in 2010, while in my final days playing live. Someone in the comments had it in their signature.

Was my birthday back in 2010 and I missed EQ so I logged back into my EQLive account. Didn't recognize anything so decided to see if there was an EMU that worked online. Found a few others then came to P99. Saw a *LOT* of bad reviews citing missing content and game breaking bugs (like pets not working, boats not working, lifts not working, bad pathing, etc) but decided to give it a shot.

Spent the entire evening trying to get the game installed and loaded up a new druid in Faydark where I found out the lifts DID work. You just had to hit the button twice. At that point I decided to throw out all the shitty forum posts I read and continue playing.

I fell in love with the game again almost immediately. I actually miss those days of no expansion packs.

Fun fact: over 25% of these characters have been tagged as BDA at one point

Speaking of our wayward brothers at EQClassic.org....has anybody heard any actual news from that end of the classic EQ universe lately?

Got a twinge of nostalgia one day, and looked up my old guild. I found the nearly dead former EZBoard MB, and someone mentioned P99. After much begging, a few weeks later, the wife allowed me to play a bit.

Years back a close friend got some free EQ live game time and allowed me to play on his account. shortly after that we started playing on Shards of Dalaya. That was pre-p99. Long story short we played Shards less and put eq down for a while. I always kept an eye on EQ EMU and mid 2010 I noticed Project 1999 boasting it was going to recreate the classic experience of EQ. Back in 2010 P99 was a lot more rough then what we have now so I didn't stick around for long.
Move the clock forward to 2014 and I decided to re-try p99 to see how its progress was coming along. After seeing the progress that had been made since 2010 I decided to spent a lot of time on p99 and also got my old close friend to come play p99 with me.
Here we are almost 2016,. I have 2 characters very near level 60 and many fond memories. It's been a blast! :)

Probably Shards of Dalaya.

SoD is a pretty darn good game, but the population is just too low.

I was lucky to find a home here. Randomly stumbled upon this having not entered the world of norrath in well over 10 years.

Also tons of good names still available, just use your imagination.
