I'm going to be the first one to say -- I'm a hypocrite.
It's funny that people allow these online games to consume themselves. They practically run on fumes, and operate as zombies irl because they spend so much time worrying about an online game where they've 'worked so hard' and dedicated so much of their time to becoming a part of a community. It's silly how they think that somehow, being bigger, and better, makes them more significant than another person playing the same game.
What it really comes down to is; competition. People feel inadequate, and must compete to make up for a deficiency; something that is lacking within. So, they turn to assuming leadership roles within said communities and pride themselves on their public figure as an idol within the community, most of the times breaking character and who they really are to hide from the limelight. "One must put up barriers; to keep oneself in tact"
In the end, gaming is fun. It's enjoyable by all peoples. My recommendation, take it easy, lay off the bullshit, and enjoy your life. It's the only one you've got... for now.
