I know a guy who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to get fake papers. He didn't even get anything, he just said he was interested and when offered some he said he would buy them. He never bought them and there was no evidence he was sincerely offered the fake papers. Just some college flunky who was dealing marijuana.

With the punishment for fake papers so severe, that even the "thought" of asking for someone to find you fake papers being illegal, is REAL ID really that big of a deal?

I need to consider this more.

I am very concerned about this hebrew beast and the possible connection to the additional-token-security-features-added-in-your-drivers-license act, formerly known as the serious really real deal holyfield driving permit act, that sister Sidelle is now calling the "Real ID Act"

But until I am presented with evidence of an RFID chip being mandatory in a state drivers license, I can't say I care if they want to make fakes more difficult.

All new passports have had RFIDs installed in them for awhile now. There are guides on the internet on how to nuke it if you are so worried about a device scanning it at an airport without your consent. The RFID itself isn't mandatory AFAIK, as most of Europe doesn't care if you have an RFID and scanning isn't required for processing (yet, although many theorize its scanned silently from long-range as you pass through an annex)

I have yet to see a customs or immigration official physically move my passport in any type of scanning motion. Has anyone physically seen their passport being scanned? If so, what country going and leaving? Just wondering if this RFID crap is just wasting tax payer money or are we going to turn these fucking scanners on. Scan me.
