While i know fine plate was introduced early on this server (since it wasn't classic), i am sure that by now, based on a parallel time line, dyes made by alchemist for fine plate should be out.

Before i get spammed with "dyes don't come out till that one useless expansion", i am not talking about prismatic dye. The dye i am talking about is specific for fine plate. If anyone can enlighten me please do!

Well nobody has posted anything solid about the exact date fine plate dyes were released but I'm leaning towards the thought that at the very latest they should be in by Kunark.

This is based on the fact that the recipes involve 100% old world items and that Kunark era archives show the dye recipes.

All the items to make the dye's seem to be in game except empty vials which were intentionally removed by devs.

nvm....

"The Legacy of Ykesha introduces a new form of armor dye to EverQuest. Unlike the old armor dyes that only worked when combining certain ingredients with certain pieces of armor, the new system will allow players to dye any piece of armor that is visible in a certain location. (These windows and the function of this feature may change.) Players will be able to decide what color they want any of their visible locations to be and set a 'tint' of that color on that location. The tint is applied to the location, not to the specific item in that location. Each change will require the use of a magical component that is expended when the tint is saved. Clicking on the Body Tint for any of these locations will bring up the color chooser window. Players can choose any of the pre-defined colors, or enter any valid number for each of the color values (Red, Green and Blue) to make any custom tint they desire. Once this tint is saved, any item placed in the dyed location will take on that color. This is a tint, though, not a change to the basic texture of the armor. It is not possible to remove colors inherent to the armor, so some armor pieces will tint differently than others. We've created a few pictures to show you the kind of variety that players will be able to create using this Legacy of Ykesha feature."

Yup. And we expect these to be put back in the game come Kunark... at least that's my guess.

This isn't about LoY dyes.

I stopped playing shortly after Kunark (busy with high school and all) but how exactly would the addition of dyes to armor be "retarded"?

I understand that we're going for a more original Everquest experience, but why is armor customization bad? It doesn't negate anything that made classic Everquest the bomb diggity: That is, create an environment that is sprawling, and forces you to rely on others or face challenging the world alone at your peril.

I think the point is that this is a part of the game that was in at the very least during Kunark. Nobody is really arguing this fact anymore that I'm aware of.

I would just like to see a no-nonsense part of the ui that will allow us to tint our armor even in a limited fashion without the need for in-game items. back in the day I had a blue and gold theme on my cleric that rocked.

Okay it seems that every other post in this thread has nothing to do with the OPs question at all.

It's been discussed to death and they are not going to add anything to the game that shouldn't be in the game for several years.

In the case of what you are referring to, that's a good 3-4 years after the scope of this server. Are you trolling or what? Come on now!

being in full matching armor = EPIC
buying a dye off a vendor to make your amor look matching = FAIL
its called being a bad ass, elitest, or a pwn star... something you are not.

Actually, it's called having all aspects of Classic EQ and Kunark represented. That is in fact what this server strives to do.

Your opinions on what is "leet" are irrelevant to the conversation.

And you fail at reading... you don’t buy "smithing" dye off a vendor. You bought Prismatic Dye off a vendor. My comment had to do with the ability to dye any armor not just fine plate. Being able to dye fine plate was a novelty.

Also it had to do with someone else’s comment not your own. Thank you though for your help with the matter

Also since some people read about as well as Guineapig... I was referring to the point that it actually takes a lot of time, skill, and effort to make a full matching set of armor (IE Planes armors). When you see a person in a full set of said armor you say "WOW, that character is bad ass". If everyone ran around in matching armor it would totally negate the wow effect of having your armor show the time and effort you put into getting it.

This has nothing to do with dying fine plate, it has to do with the people that just don’t understand why Armor dyes such as Prismatic Dye is hated so much

Lol, alrighty then. Sorry, I seem to have made it my mission at work today to keep this thread on topic (boredom). I don't think I'm doing so well.

Anyway so sum it all up. Craftable armor dye for fine plate SHOULD be in Kunark.

Any other forms of armor dye will NOT be in the game on this server.

I'm in a discussion on my old SWG clan board trying to convince some of my buddies there to come to the place that started it all.

list for me if you will what makes P99 great and I will paste it there.

Plus I think it is a good topic for discussion.

hard core:
You lose your stuff if you don't get your corpse back.
No (yellow trail or arrow) pointing you to your quest destination.
back to basics graphics
cant just solo everything

the cool:
Awesome community
Awesome dev team
stable server
stable economy
free to play

what else can I add?

You might want to start a new thread about this. I think most people won't bother checking a thread about armor dyes.

I'm sorry, did I get lost and wander into a WoW /trade chat? I knew I should have taken that left at Albuquerque...
