Lavastorm?

Was watching an old montage of classic EQ footage
and saw people running though lavastorm in bright daylight (pehaps their gamma was waay high?)

Did lavastorm have daytime ever?
Or was it always dark and gloomy? Feels like I only remember it being dark, but It could be possible..

Or has it had daytime all this time, just I'm only ever there at night?

P.S was it an eventual patch that changed this? Or once again are people turning their gamma/brightness waay up?

I don't think it's the gamma because the sky is most definitely blue in the video you linked.
So there's definitely another answer.
