Figured he wasn't going to stop at "I think this is the movie the fans wanted to see", his polite off the cuff answer on the red carpet.

Interviewer giving him too much ear, letting him ramble in his answers.

This is what happens when intelligent people are trying too hard to talk to dumb people. You get rambling answers because its impossible to give someone the perspective they have learned over the course of a lifetime.

After listening to the interview, it is disappointing we will never get to see the movie Lucas wanted to make.

Sounds like it was truly going to be Episode 7. Mentioned a focus on family and generational themes and it sounded epic.

Rambling tapered off after the first 20 minutes, the interviewer started raising his voice directively and banging his arms up and down on his chair violently. The result was we ended up getting some VERY good stuff here.

Great insights into the man, myth, and legend's legacy and world views.

He's seriously in denial if he's going to claim only one of his movies has been deemed a failure.

Lucas definitely seemed on edge in the interview, and bitter about public humiliation that obviously has him questioning his legacy and having a hard time looking in the mirror. Also, guy seemed a lot smarter than I would have given him credit for in the past.

The "white slavers" remark came off as pretty superfluous, but I'm definitely seeing something weird here. The "monkeys can't do art" part early in his ramble triggered the cryptoracism spidey sense in my brain, and then he brings up white slavers. Race is definitely on the man's mind, that's for sure.

I like Lucas, so don't want to beat up the prequels anymore. /sigh. As grown ups we have to move forward.

And dammit I just learned about the plot of TFA by accident. The internet sucks. I was reading comments on youtube and someone blurts something about the plot in TFA and my brain didn't know to look away until it was too late.

Yeah. I had shitty clickbait article in mind as I typed out that title.

That was the reason I felt it was worth a share. People all over the internet have Lucas pegged as a hack who hit the lottery.
