Well, first my presentation. I have been an old player of EQ (Started in 1999 and quitted in 2003). I played a Cleric (55) and Necro (50) and several other tries.
However before starting this possible new experience I would like to ask a few quertions (Probably not the correct ones):
1. Is the people leveling like crazy, so its dificult to partnership with others?
2. How dificult is to start for a newcommer (in terms ofEQ, not the actual care bears games).
3. Is this a server where people is elitist or friendly? (I know is not a nice question, but we all know what we find out there).
4. If any of you would like to givce some hints on how to start it would be nice.
As a player I am casual one that plays Lotro and is testing Gods and Heros. As an example I will say that after almost 3 year (April 2007) playing lotro I have never raid and never got to max the levels (I am slowwwww). I like to explore and just have fun with others :).
--> I am from EU some have in mind the time difference in order to answer the questions :):):):):).
Thanks a lot and

I played lotro too, though I did hit max levels and did raid, you'll find plenty of casual and friendly people here to help you along.
My best hint honestly would be to start somewhere where you can get to East Commonlands relatively easily, you can sell bone chips and spider silks quickly to earn some cash and there is usually a willing player nearby to give you buffs since you're starting out, it makes the first few levels a whole lot easier.

Honestly the nicest thing about this server (minus the fact that its the closest emulation of original classic EQ) is the fact that the community is very representative of that time in EQ. You have the elitist and you have the casual players, there is something there for everyone.....
Just pick a class that you can enjoy and have fun with, sometimes groups can be hard to find, and sometimes you log in and get 3 invites to groups soon as you turn on LFG.
With you being from EU id recommend picking some kind of solo class as you'll be login in during off-peak hours, tho don't be fooled tho server pop dies alil during this time there is still plenty of groups going on and is actually normally a better time to get in said groups as the zones/camps are not as contested during these hours.
Weather you plan on remaining casual or want to be raiding everyday you should be able to find like minded people/guild that fits your play style and keep in mind on this server many of the "casual" "family" guilds on server still manage to raid when they have time, its just not there main focus.....
Either way welcome to the server and hope you enjoy it 8)

Like he said...Most people here are friendly and will help you along. Leveling is not too bad. Just don't die alot.

Welcome!! There are definitely plenty of groups going around, surely if you sit in one area killing one thing at a time if there are none at the time, there will soon be one shouting for more ! Basically there is something going on 24/7, but to me it seems around evening (PST/EST) time is when the server is busiest(after people get off work etc). I started early this month, being a cleric, i've had no problems what so ever finding friends/getting groups almost as soon as I log on!! Kunark is soon around the corner and I'd say the population will be booming. Like tokum said, the server has something for everyone definately to hardcore raider, to casual every-once-in-awhile.
If you need some help getting started throw me a PM I'll do a drive by cleric buffin' session and hook u up with some stuffs i have laying around (>")> <("<)

Are you the one hooking up with Dungeonjustin's wife?
People are friendly here, it's a blast. Like anywhere though, there are some jerks!
Leveling very slow will make it difficult to level with the same people all the time, but nothing prevents you from staying friends with people even if they out level you. Maybe one day you will level with their alts or something!
Enjoy, over all this is a very fun server!

The nice thing is that EQ, unlike most other modern MMORPG's does not require you to reach max level to have an enjoyable grouping experience (low level parties are tons of fun and not just a time waster like in other more solo friendly mmorpgs).

Yeah you can still have fun at low levels. Don't be in a rush and spend some time getting to know the game again. Enjoy...
