View Full Version : Kunark leveling spots

Since Kunark is coming out soon I figured I should refresh my memory on the good spots.

LOIO is a no-brainer. Level 24-30 I believe, solo or grouped. Good for all classes.

Dreadlands is 40-50 and Karnor Castle goes 50-55. Both are good for all classes grouped.

City of Mist had a great ZEM and was good for 40-50 as well IIRC.

Anything else? I vaguely remember fear kiting in OT, but what levels were that?

I think at 30-35 my druid was in FV, up on the cliffs doing Drolvargs.

I vaguely remember soloing in OT during the late teens near the Dark Elf port, although it was VERY late in my EQLive stint so my only point of reference is the PoK book =/

Veksar and the Sarnak place...Chardok I think?

Two of my favorite dungeons. Also Nurga/Droga.

CoM is great, if you're lucky enough to hold one of the 2, MAYBE 3 camps in there. I played on PEQ for a while and could hold almost the entire front half of the zone solo at 46 as a mage. By 52 the entrance mobs were green/lt blue and I moved to holding the entire middle and most of the back section solo.

Shit, that's right. Ah well, Dalnir/Nurga/Droga/Chardok is enough to keep me happy.

And Howling Stones, which I never went to but heard was ridiculous.

Howling Stones is one of my favorite EQ zones. Too bad you have to go and ruin your OT Outpost faction by killing stuff there (same with Karnor's).

What were the dev's thinking with this? 2 of the 4 high level dungeons ruin faction for the only town(before faction work) for evil characters.

This is the way I level my iksar...
Field of Bone 1-13
Kurn's Tower 13-20
Warsliks Woods 20-24 (Giant fort)
Dalnir 24-32 or Lake of Ill Omen 20-30
City of Mist 32-44
Dreadlands or Karnor's Castle till 51
Sebilis 51-60

There are MANY other routes to take, I also liked...
Trakanon's Teeth 34-40
The Overthere 16-25
Frontier Mountains Giant fort mid 30's
The Overthere near Skyfire upper 30's
Chardok 40's
Firiona Vie Spiders 30-35

Makes sense to me, you're killing the peoples of the head honcho of the Overthere outpost. There's other places to sell/bank, especially if you work up Chardok/FV faction.

IIRC OT wasn't really good until 29+. I don't remember many mobs there under 25-27...Of course I could be totally wrong, I just remember it being poor hunting and overleveled for anyone under 29. Might as well do LOIO during that time.

All along the beach were mobs of much lower level. Few people went there until mid 20's though.

You can go to The Overthere at level 12 and have no problem finding stuff to kill along the coast. The problems come around level 18-19 or so. At that point you're running out of things to kill and everything else in the zone is 25-40, so you have to leave unless you're in a group killing reds.

Of course Warslik's Woods is just a zone away, and there's lots of low 20ish stuff to kill there.

Yeah, but GETTING there without getting slaughtered by everything else on the way is a whole different ball game. In Kunark, I remember even hugging the walls weren't even risk-free like Classic is. Devs made low-lvl travel a bear.

Best memory was when I was trying to get to LOIO from FV for the first time. Most everything was blue, even or yellow (no biggie, right?). Just jogging on through keeping my eyes peeled, when all of a sudden I just got WTFPWN-nuked by an NPC named Vekis. It was so fast and so harsh, it scared the hell out of me and made me jump out of my chair. I think I even pooed a little.

I was just frozen with "WTF was....who is...huh?"

Good stuff, those were the days.
