Hey there folks. I started playing again this week after many years. Im interested in ways to earn me some plat. I currently have a lv5 Iksar Necromancer and a Lv5 Halfelf Bard. Mostly all I am concerned about is spell money (especially for necro). I figure equipment will come eventually. Are there any tips yall have? I know bone chips used to sell well, and Ill be killing plenty skeletons in FoB. My bard is in Gfay but I prefer to use the belts for xp than money. THANKS!

P.S. I hated and sucked at swarm kiting 15 years ago, and im sure I hate it and suck at it still.

wisps in north karana soon, or wisp island.. trade the greater lightstone in for a book that vendors for 10p and some xp.. I think the normal lightstone nets some xp and a book that sells for 1p also

Wisps like Criddopher said. Bone chips as you said. Bear pelts are a GREAT way for new players to make a bit of cash and exp at the same time. HQ Bear Skins sell for around 25-30 plat, so if you can find a few and sell them, it will add up. Just don't be skimpy with your loot when you're broke. A bag full of rusty weapons will get you a plat or so.

Don't be concerned with buying all of your spells either, you can usually get by with a select few per level, and some of the bard songs you can always come back for later.

As to swarm kiting, what they call swarm kiting here is not what it was back then. It's an AE kite now (Classic swarm kiting is wonky with the pathing on emu servers with charm). If you can't/don't want to get the hang of it down, you can still get exp in groups just fine. Most groups will be happy to have bard songs twisting. Just don't expect a level a pull in a standard exp group :P

Welcome to the server, good luck with it!

Two additional ways of questing/platting(sp?) would be bandit sashes in West Karana. You can turn 'em in 1 at a time in South Qeynos to the Pally guild for bronze weapons, cash, and great exp until upwards of 18-20. There are multiple camps in West Karana too, so if one or two are taken there are others to go to.

The second way would be the Nybright sisters in Lesser Faydark. This camp is relatively permacamped, as you can get non-stop bronze weapon drops from these mobs starting around level 12-14ish. A couple of hours of waiting and the camp usually opens up.

Get to level 25ish and go to high hold keep - stay there til early/mid 30s and you will walk away with a few thousand plat in the bank.

Can also kill the orcs and get Shiney brass Idol that sells for 500pp and is a fairly common drop off level 20 mobs in high pass.

Basically make your way to highpass area ASAP =P

I'm looking for spiderling silks if you hunt up any - 20pp a stack.

I know its a bit away from your lvl, but when your 25-30ish. If you fight in the sarnak fort in LOIO you can get lucky with a bracer of the hidden drop from the legionnaires, sells for like 6-8k?

Sarnak fort is hugely nostalgic and fun

Perfect way to make money is to make stuff for tradeskillers. Last patch removed the need for expensive gems for the cultural armors. leather padding, silk swatches and the like will be in high demand. Also in gfay, you can forage for morning dews.

I am beginning to think Fifield plays just for the platinum pieces.....

Use the bard to buy/sell to vendors for peeps that are KoS.

Be frugal in what you spend.

Wear looted armour. Don't over invest in spells which will be replaced in 6hours of XPing unless they give a massive boost.

Appreciate the advice folks. Unless i just cant get groups i plan to be on the bard more. Aside from instruments and maybe a main hand item i dont think ill have to spend TOO much

Similar post in the caster's forums: http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=226101

My advice:
FoB til ~12->Kurns til 20->WW giant Fort til 29->Treants til ~36>Oggok Guards until 49->Grobb guards til 51->Felwithe guards/Faerie Dragons until 55

Will take you from teens to 50s and give you a steady diet of cash/vendor drops. By the time you leave Treants you should have 6-8k, by the time you finish Felwithe guards/faerie dragons you'll have made 40-50k.

Edit: Saw Necro and quit reading. For Bard you really only need Mistmoore drums and Gypsy lute, the rest doesn't really matter. You can focus on leveling then camp items that bard's excel at (Hunter/forager cycle, Goblin gazughi ring) later on. Otherwise the rest of the thread has a few good, low level spots.

Well it's good there since you can level fast w/o needing to turn in the belts and pads. If you get a good TR group, manage to get the dragoon dirk, turn it in for the leatherfoot skull cap, you can sell for 400pp+ (or use it}. From lvl6 to lvl20, you could walk out of CB with over 1k not too hard.

If you suck at swarm kiting maybe bard isn't the class for you...But both necromancers and bards aren't gear dependant. Your only neccessary purchases will be a horn to cut time on swarm kites or spells and bone chips for your necromancer.

Quite the contrary. If you suck at swarm kiting, you'll group all the time, learn your class, and be an amazing grouping bard later on.

Misty Thicket and Riverveil guards. 10p spears every pop. its perfect spot for necros. can start at like lvl 24, where you can kill a couple inside and prolyl 1 outside, or wait until 29 and you can kill a whole shitload.

You don't need all your spells as a necro. I leveled without any hand-outs until the 30s when I got to sell some FM giant drops that my group didn't care about and then I was set for spell money. Pick and choose, and get the spells later when you have more money. How often will you use invisibility vs undead? Not much in your lower levels. Sense the dead? Almost never. etc.

Invest in some bags and loot as much as you can.
