View Full Version : A fungi and 20k

I've been wheeling and dealing in the tunnel after having liquidated all of my characters' and alts equipment. I bought a fungi (got a great deal) and have 20k between plat and items yet to sell afterwards. I figured a fungi would always be a great investment and is the first time I've managed to get my hands on one on p99. My question is, what should I roll and what should I spend the other 20k on to facilitate said char? What would you roll / buy? Thanks

Monk. People are going to say shaman because shaman is all the rage atm.
I say roll a Monk.
Really anything melee (or shaman)
So I'd pick any melee char you have always found interesting and slap the fungi on him and buy a haste item (fbss, schw or sotdb are most inexpensive) and then the rest of the money on HP rings, weapons, and piecing out the other armor slots. You'll be able to easily solo 1-50 if you wanted and maybe even further depending on class.
Monk/Shaman is what most people do but imho we have enough monks and shamans on the server already. If you really want to play one of those classes definitely go for it but honestly you'd be able to make just about any melee class work with fungi+haste and some decent weapons.

Same
fungi, hp rings, haste item, ac/sos and a peacebringer or such with basic gear
will be really fun to lvl up and play =P if you manage to get an epic robe, the clicky on that is pretty insane while leveling

Pretty much any melee will be extremely successful and op lol.
Whichever you roll, grab a haste item, hp rings, and weaps. Set to 60.

AC/SoS post 30 - but double jade mace until then. And only cost 900 each :)

It's true, they require skill and patience. Who wants that crap.

I am loving ranger :D
To the OP, i say play whatever you find fun. Some people find playing the easy classes fun....I personally like a challenge :)

With a fungi, you can play pretty much any melee class to 50 solo ... and any group or duo/trio option out there would have to be smoking crack to not want a fungi melee in the group (it just makes the game way too easy).
As far as raw power (overpowered), monk wins hands down. Rangers are a blast to play. Knights are fun as well.
The most boring option would be to play a rogue, followed closely by warrior.

Erudite paladin. You'll be the hero of Odus
This. Please.
Otherwise, Erudite SK is another very cool option.

If you're intending for this character to be an end-game raider, then rogue is the best choice. Raids always need DPS. If you just want to be casual and AFK a lot, then monk. If you want to be a soloing powerhouse, pick shaman.
Highly recommend not picking ranger, warrior, SK, or paladin.

I would totally do this if I could get a soulfire @ level 1

So did you decide on a class? Curious what you decided on.

Dear Original Poster,
On behalf of the entire community which class did you decide upon rolling? After you told us of your fungi tunic and 20k it has us all on the edge of our seat in wonder. We look forward to hearing back from you.

OP banned for RMT - move along, nothing to see here!

Spend the 20k on hp gear, haste, and a good weapon that hopefully multiple classes can use.
With that base set assembled you can solo any melee class (except maybe rogue) to 40+.
Example: Poison Wind Censer. excellent ratio 2hb which you could use on a shm, shd, warrior, and paladin.

My vote is Monk or Shaman. I know everyone makes those classes but there's a reason for that. Shaman is arguably the best class in the game during this era and Monk is extremely good too. If you plan on getting serious into endgame raiding at some point Rogue is a really good option too.

I went with a ranger, got a woodsman staff and some hp rings and a raincaller with some mithril pieces etc to fill in the other slots. I haven't had much time to play yet, however. trying to farm some more cash for an RBB or COF. I play on Red so the prospect of maybe getting a windstriker was appealing despite being a long shot, and with so few ranger mains on red getting gear on raids was more likely than the more popular class alternatives.
Erudite Paladin did cross my mind, however.
I've been wheeling and dealing in the tunnel
I play on Red
No tunnel on red man.
definitly RMT

yeah totally, had i said wheeling and dealing at the NFP bank I doubt 90% of the people who read this thread would have understood that ment flipping items as one would in the tunnel. i also figured had i made this a more red centric post i would have gotten "go to the red forums" unhelpful replies.

Class suggestions would probably have been a little more appropriate, tho. Guessing you must already have a monk and that's why you picked ranger.
