Welcome to the new recruitment thread for Azure Guard!

We are looking for people who match our vision for playing and enjoying Everquest on P99. We have noticed that the threads in this forum have all become very similar, with vague descriptions promising things like "work-life balance" and "the only requirement is not being a jerk and to have fun" without anyone telling you specifically what you are getting yourself into. We have decided to take a different route and let you have all the information, euphemism free, up front. If you are interested in joining us, here's what you need to know:

A. Why should you consider AG?
This guild is stable and always growing. We are organized and have strong leadership. We work together with other guilds, being officially allied with two other guilds and unofficially allied with another. Our leader is the elected mayor of P99 and we have never had a raid suspension enforced on us.

B. Joining Process
Joining AG is not complicated. You must have one character 46+ to become a member. You go to our website (located here: http://azureguard.guildlaunch.com/ ) and fill out an application. Someone will contact you right away, usually within 48 hours. You must attend two functions, at least one of which is a raid, to get tagged as a trial member. After one raid as a trial member, you will be eligible to become a full member. You will then have access to our website and will begin to accumulate DKP and are treated the same as any other member.

C. Rules and Regulations
There aren't a lot of rules in AG. AG is a borderline roleplaying guild in that we expect you to not only abide by the PnP, but actively be a nice player to others, particularly lower level characters, and to be a good steward of the blue server. We want to be a positive force on the server, not a neutral or evil one. We're not looking for lawyerquesters or people trying to push the line on what's legal and what's not on P99. This is a social game and if you're looking for pixels at any cost, we're probably not what you're looking for.

D. Loot Distribution
AG uses two different systems to distribute loot: /random and DKP. We use DKP for guild raids or events of 2+ groups, or for certain targets. We use /random to distribute loot from situations where DKP does not apply, and occasionally we do raids where it's announced beforehand that everything will be /randomed. You accumulate points for coming to raids, and spend those points on loot we obtain. DKP is awarded by the hour on some targets, and as a set amount on others. Outside of very limited circumstances where two players can make a similar claim to an item, there is no loot counseling in AG, and if that situation arises the process is transparent. DKP is the fairest system to accommodate both casual and everyday players.


FAQ

Q. What time zone do you mostly operate in?
A. The majority of our people are located in the USA in the Eastern or Central time zones, but we have members from all over the world. When raids are scheduled, they are usually in the evening. We target mobs 24/7 though and work with our European allies to kill mobs whenever they pop.

Q. Do you have a batphone?
A. We have a batphone that is run through Twitter. You are not required to join, but you will miss most encounters if you do not use this service.

Q. What sort of requirements do you have regarding raid attendance?
A. Very little. You must attend at least two raids to join the guild, but once you are in, there is no requirement that you attend a certain percentage of raids to keep your membership. The beauty of DKP is that you earn as much as you care to earn. The only caveat is you must attend at least one raid per month to avoid DKP decay.

Q. What gear requirements does AG have to join?
A. None. We require you to be 46+ on one character to join the guild, and 55+ to come to certain raids. There are a few high-end encounters that require specialized gear to join that particular raid. Nobody will be inspecting you to determine whether you're eligible to join the guild based on your gear.

Q. What chat requirements do you have?
A. AG provides voice chat via mumble. You are not required to join it. Approximately 50% of guild members use voice chat.

Q. How do you deal with alts?
A. We'll guild any alt you have regardless of level if you list them on the website, but you must get your character to level 46 before you can spend your DKP on that alt.

Q. Do you police my speech?
A. Some guilds require you to abstain from posting in certain forums or using your characters "real" name. We do not have any rules like that.

Q. Do you tolerate roleplayers?
A. Yes. We have a few roleplayers in our guild. You are not required to roleplay, however, and the vast majority do not.

Q. What raids do you schedule?
A. Unfortunately on P99, you can not schedule most raids because of how the rules are set up; you have to go when the window is open and that changes all the time due to many factors. We do schedule raids when possible though, and currently we are doing Plane of Sky on Tuesday nights at 7:30 Eastern and HoT on Thursday nights and Saturday afternoons.

Alts have a lower max bid than mains, but otherwise yes, you can spend your DKP on any raid-eligible toon you want.

Main payers never lose an item they are willing to spend dkp on.

Your mentality is backwards in reference to this guild. This is the group of people that have farmed over 1 million plat in Tranix crowns just to give to new members. I think I saw a SS chain legs or arms on our site for any main character that didn't have them being MQed by a veteran, etc, etc.

We exist to help the server and those that play on it.


Edit: let's cut to the chase. Some guilds throw gear at their inner core and the casual players are part of some EQ pyramid scheme to gear the no-lifers. That's not us.

Thanks everyone. Today was a historic day for the blue server. Our alliance was able to fight down through North ToV, clear the hallway before the Dragon and even kill it in the room it spawns in. It was gorgeous. The loot was not so gorgeous, but the morale loot was great indeed.

Yeah we had to camp out and time the drake pather as we kept having to rez from trains to entrance. We got hit three times and one time we wiped to the server coming down.

It was a bit of a mess with about 7 mass CAMP calls to either avoid trains pathing back (safe hall is NOT safe when someone trains away) or to avoid the drake and left the monks to watch it path away. In the end, we got our raid rezzed long enough to crawl/kill pather, two bottom of ramp drakes, wurms and then the dragon gal herself.

Another dead Klandicar to the CSG good guys! We also had a great attempt and learned a lot at Cazic Thule today! Got that sucker down under 25% after we picked him up, but didn't have the right set up to take it home.

Fun little weekend and Monday in Azure Guard! I believe we killed Kelorek'Dar, Talendor, Severilous, Faydedar, Lord Nagafen, Lady Vox, Klandicar, Gorenaire, Vindi and maybe others mostly with the help of our fellow Casual Scum Guilds.

If you want to make a dent in the raid scene, but think a mandatory raid attendance and batphone policy is a bit much for a 17 year old game, check us out! If your schedule isn't the typical American variety, check out our friends in Omni and Europa! Come kill a few dragons with us. :)

But this week we've killed 9 raid dragons and 2 raid giants. 11 mobs is like... really pushing our limits on what we want to do each week though.

Yup,yup. We started with 80 And finished wave three with just over 90. About 10 rogues and 11 clerics. I'd say our dps was just up to par. The troops executed superbly. I realized early on that we were aoeing our scout (lol) whenever a wave popped and we had to memblur him frequently and stop some of our aoes. CSG leadership chatted about that and we have a way to do it better next time. Will mean lots more dps.

For loot, let's see. Ring and eye went to Kanem of Omni, earring and choker went to AG, mask and lance went to Europa and the crown npc was bugged and have no crown.

I think the thing that was most exciting was that nearly 100% was CSG. From leadership to execution, all CSG. I was a very proud GL.

Big grats, especially getting all the dwarf loots on your first win. As you do them more frequently, everything gets more smooth in terms of mob grouping and execution. Good shit though.

As the proud owner of a 10th ring, 10 regen/tick is simply amazing. It's better than the fungi staff, really, because it doesn't snare you, and that used to go for 3M.

When you say you were AEing the scout, were you using the dwarves? We camp off the scout in Awakened.

I think what they meant is that whoever was controlling the Scout was assisting in the piles, thus Scout was assisting. I know in our first few wars, we just had whoever was turnin guy sit out the fight entirely before we knew that camping him off was an option.

The biggest deal was everyone played with precision and took initiative. People really stepped up and filled their roles.

^ Yes, Kanem was tanking away to earn that ring so the scout was in the fray and getting hit by AEs from CSG.

By third wave I think people refrained from AEs entirely, which seemed to work because I only chased him down once with a CSG enchanter after I joined during the third wave. He seems to flee somewhere above the usual 20% hp because he was running around at 21% at one point. Once mem-blurred, he returns to the controller and heals up.

For next time, definitely keep an eye on that because if he ends up where giants are popping because he's at low health, it's over. /captainobvious

I did notice a bit of a disarray with kiting the priests and people giving false alarms about spawns at least once when it was just them running around near the river. You guys managed to hold it together to get Narandi, though. Again, nice job!

mobs get really resistant in the final wave and kill a lot of the value in AEing. at that point i think rogues are better. but we try to have as many rogues and AEers in attendance as possible. get the best of both worlds.

Ah we tried the other night. Lots of man hours pumped into that. It's pretty difficult getting casuals to agree to spend their time doing that.

I opened it to the entire guild with dkp incentive, but I still only got maybe 3-4 people total willing to dedicate any length of time to that raid scene.

Yep, I read the raid website and the once a month minimum works great for me! The main problem right now is that the hostel I'm staying in almost always shows an empty server list, and on the rare times the list populates, when I try to hit "Play EverQuest" it loads for a bit but then kicks me back to the login screen. I'm a bit of a guru so I may be able to get something working to get around what I presume is a network restriction here; I don't think I'm up for Starbucks raiding just yet, haha.

The Ring War went pretty swimmingly even though things were looking pretty dire near the end there! I think that was the first raid I've been on in 6 or 7 years. Although I've raided almost all the content from PoP to Seeds of Destruction, I've only done Nagafen out of the content available on P99, so I'm looking forward to more of the same I had today.

We have won so many ring wars now we are struggling to find people who are ready with a 9th ring.

We cleared all of VP late last month and looted 6 dragon corpses.

Keary, AG main tank, walked away with a Crown of Rile. Lucky duck now has a Shissar sword and Crown of Rile.

Everyone's getting 1h primals (I think we have something like 7 or so now).

I don't remember if we posted it or not but we killed a Yelinak in recent history which was pretty cool. That was probably the furthest back.

Anyway, lots going on, just not visiting the forums much because #EQSummer.

Hehe, hey Aegnor! We suck at reporting but literally every week we are having CSG firsts. Past two weeks we have gotten KT and this week's was contested!

There's still unsportsmanlike crap going on from the server's top end raiders but we are doing what we do without dealing with it as much as possible.

Also we led a server wide chardok raid with paradox where a 46 unguided main cleric got her epic piece. Doing that and then winning and killing a contested KT ( with competition faction hail-turning his guards) in the same weekend is how I envisioned AG 5 years ago when we started. We have such an amazing group of officers and players that really want the best for the server.

Yeah, the day that we got Ssouky a ST key, Awakened started doing ST hard again. Every time we do Noble and Ssouky is there, nothing good drops. When we kill things without Ssouky, we get lots of loot and AG wins every roll.

I think Norrath is mad that a European player is in AG instead of Europa.

We got two ST keys, one from Klandi and one from Yekinak.

Then we got a dead statue of rallos zek.

Then we killed Gore, Vindi, Vox, noble and Wuoshi.

funny story. So because i mentioned that we kille wuoshi here (even though we decided not to after i went to bed), I got three skype messages today from people asking if it was true that we killed wuoshi because he was up.

Why is that so significant?

If we HAD killed wuoshi and he was up it would have meant that last night was not a hard reset but just a repop that didn't change velious timers... meaning, if i had lied and said "yes we did kill wuoshi" and falsified some log to indicate a kill message then there'd be probably 40 A/A racers in ToV right now. Which would have been the greatest april fools joke possible. If only the timing was right.

To kill a dragon it takes about 1 hour at most to have everyone log in, pull the dragon and kill it. For other Velious targets we can do them quicker and Kunark quicker still. I've personally logged in and killed Trakanon in under 5 minutes multiple times.


With that being said, there are times when we have to say "just casual raiding please." After 11pm est- 9am est we try to keep our raids to things like Kael platehouse, DN runs, Hate runs, things of that nature. Last night/this morning at 5am est we killed Cazic Thule, but we try to keep that to a minimum.

We actually ended up with two vulaks. So Vulak 1 dropped Amulet and boots. Which was cool but the second Vulak dropped the nice stuff.

We got the awesome 2h axe with 80 ac and the ranger sword with the haste.

AG got the necklace and ranger sword, Omni got the axe and Europa got the boots.

and AoW dropped the legs and mask. AG got the mask and Europa got the legs.

Today, was killing in Skyshrine on my necromancer, Tiny Coin Purse dropped and I already had one, so logged over to my druid to loot and deliver to a RL friend who just started playing a monk. While I was logging from one account to the other, someone ninja'd the corpse. Did a petition, was advised that it was someone from AG (not putting the name here, sorry). In my attempts to reach this person, I spoke with an officer from AG, Heatheer, who replaced the item with one they had.

Thanks again, Heatheer, and props to your guild. They are led by good people!

Wasn't really the item itself, but the fact that if you didn't kill the mob, shouldn't be looting the corpse. From everything I've ever been told, that's a bannable offense, indeed, the staff member offered to have the persons account suspended until the situation was resolved.

Just because the item (which, per the wiki, is 400, not 50... but I think someone has been fiddling with some of the prices....) is next to worthless doesn't detract from the action itself.

Oh my God. Ok, so the item was meant for a RL buddy of mine who is a monk, figured he'd like it for the coin wr. I didn't at the time know how often it drops and so I logged on druid to get it so I could get it to him easily. That's when someone looted it and I ended up petitioning to figure out who. Then I contacted AG officer and it was taken care of.

I posted about it to show that AG has good people.

It's fine Milander. We spoke that day because I just happened to log into Skyshrine when you inquired about the coin purse. You seemed to be a nice enough guy when I talked to you later regarding your petition. But bottom line this is a small matter and not fodder for this section of the forums. A recruitment officer of AG asked nicely if we could keep this matter off the recruitment thread. Let's follow the guild recruitment forum guidelines and leave this thread open to all the excellent future AG'ers to come.

Personally I would like to say that I have really enjoyed my time in AG in the past year as a member. There are some very quality people in this guild and the future is only looking up for AG and CSG. They have been here a long time and through hard and great times and are here to stay. Never a better time to join AG.

I have gotten several PM/questions recently about the status of azure guard and a new guild called blood guard. .. AG is not affiliated with blood guard. A former AG officer joined veloci shift and they changed their name. Any rumors of us merging with them are false, we have a longtime alliance with europa/omni.

The salient point is that Azure Guard != Blood Guard nor is there any kind of plan for a merger.

My point is that I do not want people assuming we merged with them, or that AG formed into two guilds, or that they merged with us, &c due to the similar names. Its veloci shift under a brand new guild tag and has nothing to do with us.
