More than once have I've seen people argue the following: "Kedge Keep best xp zone in game"...
Figured I'd poke my head in.
First room was full of xp green with a couple of non xp and a blue or two. Cleared it okay. Next room down had a bunch of blues, got a crit resist on lull so zoned out.
Came back in after killing a dark blue that was in Dagnor's.
First room was beginning to respawn. Apparently one mob was a named and chased me out of zone.
Decided not to stay as first room was still just a bunch of green, couple of blue (one of which now very dangerous to engage).
All in all had a pretty newb experience (which was fun) but am hoping for tips on how to get more out of the zone. Was playing a 45 ranger (currently fear kiting gorillas in EJ). Do I need to bring friends, head deeper in (and take an escape rope since I don't have sup cammo yet), gain a few more levels or what?

Also curious about this zone but as a 56 necro. Is there any solo spot deep inside which is worth XPing the hell out of? Underwater combat just scares me :(

My experience with KK was with a trio of Monk, Warrior, Cleric. We camped in safe room off the 2nd floor. Then cleared 2nd floor and also pulled sharks from rooms closest to safe room. KK made even the best groups in Lguk or Solb look slow in comparison. I went from level 40-49 faster than I went from 20-40.

I'm not sure if Kedge was my most requested zone rez location, but it was certainly popular for clerics trying to make some cash.

It's not the best exp zone in the game, you're getting trolled. Nuff sed
What is better? Just curious since KK is by far the best I have ever experienced.

The hole is phenomenal, but may want to gain a few levels. As a ranger you can even use anti summon nukes, your snares will come in handy to do the entrance mobs.
Can stay in that zone and go from 49 - 60. I made a post on it

The Hole is nice, close to bind and druid ring. I don't think it would have been good for me to go there from 40-49 like I did in KK

Kedge is good stuff, but hard to solo as a ranger. Take it from me, I've spent a LOT of time down there. Dunno about 'best' but it's one of the best.

I got a monk and a druid buddy who are off playing Borderlands 2 on their eggsboxes at the moment. They're in their late 40s, perhaps when they get bored of Borderlands it will be worth giving Kedge another chance?

Kedge is the worst zone in the game – I’ve said it before and will say it again - if you value your sanity stay away.
Zone is for elitist pricks to try to convince themselves that they are better at the game than everyone else because they can tolerate the poor zone layout and can charm kill. Would be a service to the community if there was a big "DO NOT ENTER" sign at the entrance.

I think so, yes. This is really a dungeon made for druids. Charmable animals are everywhere. It's hard to find a better place for a grouping (or soloing) druid.
Been exploring it with my static group recently. XP is solid, maybe not the best in game, but it's very good - if you're in your 40s especially it's very hard to beat. When I was duoing down here with my cleric (40) and my friend's enchanter (45), both of us in hell levels, you could see the bar visibly jump with every kill. Some of the loot drops aren't bad either.

Wow, this is not my experience at all with KK. I am so far from elitist. Never leveled a single char past 51. Never charm killed there. Poor zone layout? If anything it has a basic layout. I think a fd puller is highly recommended.

It's not an easy zone. I have no idea about the 'elitist pricks' part. I like the zone layout, it makes you think on your feet and have pre-planned escape routes. Of course, I play Rangers, so I'm not into easy mode anyway.

it is, it's just hard as fuck tho.. takes more time than it would grinding in another zone, just to learn this one haha
but if you learn it, and keep playing rolling alts, you will be on a fast track to 50 there.

It's definitely a place you want to have an EB item. Getting your EB/DMF dispelled is an extra headache you don't need.
It's an intimidating zone, and CRs can be tricky, but it's excellent exp if you can make it work. Assuming you all had EB, ranger pull with snare or druid pull with snare/gate depending on the pull...some of the mobs are ranger/druid and will have a ds. I'd recommend dispelling that if possible.
The named you were pulling is a fierce impaler. He drops 1 of 2 harpoons. He is tough. Another one to watch out for is the ravenous fang piranha. He can double hit for 165. He spawns at the bottom of the first tunnel.

Just to throw this in there too. It's not a bad zone for Mages either. You have to pick your area wisely due to agro radius and adds, but Mage get insta click WB and Chain pets on tough mobs, if needed.
Duo mage is very awesome there. XP is great!

I soloed my druid to 60 very fast in there. Charm a fish as a pet. My monk is 55 I can solo the DBs every 2 kills I get 1% xp beats any group.

kedge is good for 30-55ish.
the mermaids greenout at mid 50s, so you are left with sea horses which are a massive pain in the ass to kill.
kedge best zone in game hands down, anyone who says otherwise is either bad or stupid

It's a tough zone, but well worth learning and a lot of fun. You will die, but at least the corpse runs aren't as horrible as some other places. Just keep a stack of scales in your bank before you venture there.

Kedge is fantastic XP. Some may argue the hole is better, some may argue kedge is better but it all boils down to whether u know the zones or not.
Kedge is a zone that tests players gameplay a lot

Ding!
It's hard at first, and a little unforgiving. But once you get used to it and memorize the zone layout. It's not bad. And XP is good. I did a lot of 52-60 there. Was so much better xp than stuff like bear pits.

He actually spawns in any of the swordfish spots at the top room. As a side note, I've soloed him several times with root + archery + crappy arm dots. Takes a while.

Kedge is great. I went there at 56 and in about 2 hours I was 54. Very fast.

Kedge can be the best or the worst. If you have a puller that knows what they are doing and knows the zone it is going to be the best exp in the game.
I went from something like 51-59 on my bard there during a double exp weekend. (hybrid penalty existed then). But i knew the zone and how to pull it effectively.
at 59 too much goes green. i finished in the perma bear pits.

This. If you don't know the camp spots, and the zone, you aren't going to have a good time.
It isn't disputable imo whether Kedge is the best exp zone in the game. Its a fact when done properly.
Although LCY with a heavy group of twinks on off-hours can definitely compete...Fact is KC is camped and you aren't getting a full group of PUG twinks.
So kedge is king.

I always had my group in the cubby near the undertow spawn. this was basically a safe spot right in between the mermaids with estrella and the seahorses with undertow and a few other named.
From there you just clear out the seahorses and then do as many mermaids as you can before respawns start. Bards are absolutely fantastic pulling these areas as their lull song has a very low resist rate compared to an enchanter and they have resist songs to easily pull casters in.
You typically wont get more than three at a time without lulls. only exception being the mermaids around the estrella spawn. So a bard can easily lull two or three and pull before it fades. You pull with a dispel to kill any druid damage shields.

Catherin was indeed pretty helpful there. Also there is a map you can look up the safe-hall on.
My only experience with kedge is in small groups/groups. Duos looked feasible for some camps, solo looked nightmarish regardless of camp.

As a solo druid, it's a pretty fun zone. I haven't been in a while but what I use to do is keep a corpse full of fish scales outside and bind in case of trouble.
Even seahorse caves aren't too bad if you use a little bit of finesse. It was fun for me to take on something that I considered challenging - pulls of two or three wizard, druid, and cleric mobs? Underwater? Sign me up.
Yeah I died a bit back then, but once you get the groove you're golden. It's like with anything in this game. Learn the pulls, learn the mobs, learn your strategy.
I've also done all of this multiple times without a goblin ring for the invis. I was 57 and sacrificed down. Always preferred kedge over bear pits just because it really keeps me on my toes.
(concerning sea horse caves, once cleared and staggered into twos - it's more manageable)
I mean really a druid who's willing to put the time and frustration in starting out can live here from 34 to 60.

Also I'll add another druid here on the forums pretty much wrote the handbook on this zone months back. Hopefully he'll see this and pop in or I'll recall his name.
For every other class there's potential as well. Just gotta learn it.
