"Cross-Network Play
First, in addition to natively supporting cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10 games that use Xbox Live, we’re enabling developers to support cross-network play as well. This means players on Xbox One and Windows 10 using Xbox Live will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks – including other console and PC networks.

Of course, it’s up to game developers to support this feature, and Xbox Live players will always have the option of choosing to play only with other Xbox Live players. We’re thrilled to confirm that Psyonix’s Rocket League will be one of the first games to take advantage of this new capability by enabling cross-network play between Xbox One and PC players, with an open invitation for other networks to participate as well."

After the XB1 DRM clown fiesta, who would have though Microsoft would be the one to take the next step in global thermonuclear gaming?

Ouch, bad news for anyone playing a FPS with a controller. Keyboard/mouse is just so much more effective.

Now console players everywhere can learn how sub-optimal console is vs PC! Pras

The problem with this is maybe 2 developers will be on board with the idea, and the rest will be forced by publishers not to do this.

XB1 is already a PITA to code for and so is WinRT (Windows Store). Ever wonder why the Windows Store is so barren? It's because they have like 115 requirements or something stupid to get on there.

PS4 is easier but highly incompatible with the Windows ecosystem.

They would have to remove the whole game approval process in order for this to work, and MS/Sony do not want to do that.

god this would be like playing on rallos zek in 1999 after all these years.

you'd be a level 50 druid just face raping the entire server everyone would be awestruck.

Makes me want to go buy call of duty for the PC just to get that early access to masses of console nerd losers.

I can confirm. Competitive gaming on a console is generally more restrictive and all around inferior for that on a PC. The base gaming input devices known to man/woman/other are the Nostromo N52te lineage and any whatever that 10 thumb button mouse by Razer is called. Gamepads/controllers don't even compare. Also editable controls ftw.

Shadowrun for Xbox360 was already cross platform between Xbox live and PC years ago.

Including the playstation network in that would be cool though.

This.

All set with the MAC OS ports that Windows 8 and 10 are.

I prefer straight forward design. I don't need my desktop GUI to look and function like a dumb tablet.
