my pal: yo gnome necro being kos to north freeport guards = ghey.

me: dudeyou can fix that and i can tell you how, i am the master of the universe.

my pal: lol how does one fix that oh master of the universe!?

me: what you do is, xp off wfp guards. and turn the helmets in at the paladin or cleric guild in nfp.

my pal: I could use the banker, but then the guard rolls me.

me: to use the bank: go inside, to the back left corner
the guards cant see you there but you can bank

then kill wfp guards and turn in militia helmstil you're not kos in nfp anymore, THENgo to highpass hold and kill orcs and gnolls and turn in their scalps. that gets you friendly with the wfp guards again, and la youre not kos anywhere in freeport

given that you're still low level, go kill orcs/gnolls first. xp off them, it takes about 100 scalps to go from max kos to like, midrange friendly and if youre also xping off them that'll be no sweat. This also gets you friendly in HHK which is a plus.

my pal: neato, is that the back left corner if I were facing the bankers when coming in, or from the vantage point of the bankers?

me: facing them -- so, go in the door on the right, then turn left, back corner. man I am such a fountain of knowledge.

I don't see a need for a nerf. I think it's extremely clever. Unless you're just messing with him, I guess.

We have been using the banker trick since last year.

karsten

well, you could do that on live as well iirc. same thing with factioning up etc. I played an erudite SK and had to faction all sorts of different places including freeport and kelethin

Evil race invises to that corner, and banker loves evil races too so he shows the love and lets you use the bank? That's freakin' sweet.

I played on Veeshan in classic, and NFP was the trading zone, not EC, but thats heck of a lot better than Gfay!

I don't understand this. I want to, since I'm Ogre SK.

Why do you recommend killing Guards instead of Orcs? I'm only level 8, and I want to get started on my Freeport Faction. Guards are 20+ I thought. And not only that, but how would I get to the cleric in NFP to turn in the helmets?

You also say to train off Highpass mobs at 'low' level. What is 'low' level?

never heard of the milk quest --- if it works thats fabulous -- the orcs dont raise the right factions, and the milk quest may or may not. killing guards gets the correct factions up. low level in high pass is what, 16 to 20 or so? guards in freeport are way higher, which is why you might want to collect your scalps first, then kill wfp guards, then turn in scalps

I am a gnome necro and have never been kos anywhere in NFP. However, last time I went to the necro GM in the WFP tunnels I was KOS for some reason :/ Can anyone explain either of these things?

karsten
12-12-2010, 03:00 PM
yeah, you have been killing mobs that give -faction in the freeport underground, unkempt hand or something i forget what its called but i'm sure someone can get info on that off alla for you

Fair enough, I think the skeleton camp in SK gives that faction. But why have I never had a problem banking in NFP? No invis or anything. I only killed orcs in the commons for a level or so, I remember factions being a lot harder than that to raise?

deity choice perhaps?

yeah, that quest doesnt give plus faction to all of the NFP factions required. the paladin faction and the cleric faction are different -- to make sure you get both, i recommend the "Karsten Escalante Method" ^^

It works. I'm a DE necro currently apprehensive to NFP guards. Still KOS to all of WFP but that dont matter, haters gonna hate, etc.

Before you have the faction, you CAN invis, position yourself in the back left corner of the bank, and pop it off or FD.

Caveats, though:

1) You will spend a LOT of time killing WFP guards. Took me several levels' worth. Learn their pathing so you don't accidentally pull more than one, and be careful pulling around the militia house so you or your pet don't accidentally aggro Jentry and others.

2) You still won't be safe everywhere in NFP. The guards and helmets don't give bard faction so you'll be KOS near the bard house.

Good luck!

Little muffin quest there also for some faydwer faction, and... Elven wine quest to raise some obscure Elf NPC faction.

karsten

yeah i also wanted to mention that this will not help your faction with the underground evil guild trainers under efp

oh and if you want to skip all the wfp guard killing drudgery, one kill of lucan will do it also

Agreed... lots and lots of time. I spent levels 34 through to 50 solo, killing guards. And was not ally! (was also turning in hats for a good portion of it)

Of course, things may have changed over the last ~12 months..
