Would p99 ever implement something custom to the server (rules/zone/mob) if it remained consistent with the original EQ "vision"?
The stamina discussion thread has got me thinking - would p99 ever implement something even if it differed from the original EQ (whether that was something custom to the server or stricter rules)?
One example, regarding something like stamina bar would be adding the effect that you could no longer attack if out of stamina (or suffer a huge attack speed reduction) regardless of what your stamina stat was.
While this would not be how it was on EQ live it would add a very interesting play mechanic.
Likewise if a custom zone were to be implemented (as long as that zone retained original EQ's level of difficulty).

As there are a brazillion custom servers and only one P1999, I don't see why they would.

I think the point of P99 to a large extent is that from 1999-2001, EQ was as close to perfect an MMO as has ever existed. Tweaking anything, no matter how much it might seem like an improvement, is antithetical to that sentiment. It's not like Sony devs were trying to fuck up the game; they too thought the changes being implemented were good.

Hopefully they won't implement anything custom, but either way that's a loooooong time from now we're talking about.

Well there was that PVP game zone that was in the works a long time ago. Not sure what happened with that. I think it was capture the flag or something.
There are screenshots of the zone somewhere around the forums, I think they used PoTime.

Permanent custom content most likely we will not ever implement.
Temporary custom events/scripts/events we have already done, and will continue to do.

Variance is kinda custom. In 99 guilds had to come to some kind of agreement due to the predictable spawning of the raid targets. Of course EQ had a team of guides and paid GMs to deal with the fall out from guilds fighting over spawns, obviously here they don't and don't want to deal with that bullshit :)

Relive the classic Everquest MMORPG Gaming Experience as it was in 1999 and onward. Project 1999 is a free to play Emulated Everquest Server giving Players the opportunity to experience Classic EQ Once again, starting with the original 3 continents and a max level of 50, with the look and feel of the old interface and several modifications making game mechanics similar to how the game used to be. Project 1999 is the best and most popular classic Everquest experience.
Now why would there be custom zones or rules?
