Hi all. I've been playing MMOs for a very long time, but somehow never played EQ. I've played EQ2 lots, but never the OG. Once you get past the old visuals, there's a LOT to this game, even early on in it's life which has left me with a few questions.

1.) so far, I haven't seen a ton of people running around in the towns. I assume they're all out adventuring?

2.) Where in God's holy name is the Rogues guild in Freeport? I've played this toon for an hour and a half already (even managed to snag a Fine Rapier from a nice Necro killing guards), but for the life of me, I can't find the rogue's guild. /s Pretty sure Sense Heading would be maxed by now.

3.) When do people usually start grouping? I've seen zero chat going on so far.

4.) How's the UK and EU population? I work nights in the US and tend to sync better with EU and UK playtimes.

Thanks for answering yet another list of newbie questions. See you all in-game.

1. Yep, most people are out adventuring. Or, if you venture into EC, in the tunnel leading to NRo, trying to hawk their wares.

2. The rogue guild is well-hidden. Go to the docks in East Freeport. There is a bar on one side (Seafarer's Roost) with two levels. You can access the lower level from outside. (There is a barbarian who hangs out near the door.) Go into the lower level, go down the stairs, and try running up against the walls underneath the deck area to find the hidden stairs.

3. Hmm...some people start as early as 2-3, but usually people will start 5-8. It really depends on where you are. Go to East Commonlands and look for an orc 1 group around 7-8 (I think) if you're in that area. Sometimes you have to wing it to get a group together.

4. We have a pretty robust population in those time zones. (We also have Asian and Aussie/kiwi players!) But it's definitely a lot smaller than the US crowd...you'll find plenty of areas that seem a bit deserted. Places to find people include EC, Gfay, OT, FoB, Thurgadin, etc.

Welcome to EverQuest! Make friends and have fun :)

Even at EU times some of the popular leveling zones are overcrowded (Mistmoore mainly). So the problem is often the opposite, too many people in one zone.

The official p99 wiki has maps, shows where all the guilds are.
People don't hang around towns too much. Maybe with the exception of Kelethin as the surrounding area/zones are often well populated.

Thanks guys. Good to know grouping won't be a problem. I finally found the guild completely by accident. lol. It felt like I won the game. One last question: Does equipped gear not show up? None of this cloth armor I've been picking up nor the few banded items I've acquired show up. I'm still rocking my starter gear appearance.

There are 7 visible armor peeves (feer, legs, chest, arms, wrists, hands, helmet) and not all armor has a graphic. Cloth, for example. You will look like a noob for at least a few levels. :)

Get some leather/patchwork legs/tunic/sleeves/gloves/boots/bracers/hat to start yourself down the road to fashionquest :)

There are usually plenty of rawhide options on the merchant in Kaladim, next to the NPC for belts/pads. Generally cheap.
