Can someone give me a run down how exactly this works as a game mechanic? I am leveling my druid a bit more and been using it for certain things like being able to sell to merchants i could not before (oggok when killing guards). But, how does the faction modifier work? is it a flat + (number here) to my faction? What if I kill mobs while I am in my wolf form, does this matter compared to not being in my wolf form?
I haven't played a bard or an enchanter so I don't know much about faction modifiers other than sneak.
Just wondering because the oggok guards used to be apprehensive to me but now im at the bottom of faction and both wolf form and non wolf form is scowling. So if anyone is able to give me a run down in general how this works that would be great!

As I understand, it does not gives you + faction, it just remove the race bonus/penality, also it seems some guards KOS wolf form

to my knowledge, taking faction hits while in an illusion will have a negative imact overall. I am max kos to the elementals in The Hole. I used the illusion earth elemental stone and i went up to Threatenly. the faction hits still show as max kos though.I did not try out the illusion before taking faction hits.

IIRC, it puts you on some kind of default faction, like "beta neutral" or something. Nothing else in the game really affects that faction, so you are always more or less neutral, unless the NPC's have been specifically coded to hate that faction.

Well this is why I use the oggok guards as an example. Before I started killing them I was Threateningly as my human druid form, apprehensive in wolf form. Then I started killing, BUT i was in wolf form so i could sell to the merchants, and landed me to scowl in both wolf form and non.
So my question is, is killing in illusion form ill advised? Or does it not matter at all?

I believe killing in wolf form is ill advised because it works like this from my understanding.
As a human you start at threat to oggok, but you have 0 faction points against them. As a wolf you become beta neutral + the faction points you originally had against that faction (can add negative points to worsen your faction.)
...but now as wolf you gain more negative faction points because you aren't going from threat to kos, you're going from app to kos. Those faction points are saved in a variable. Now next time you wolf its beta neutral + the negative points you got last time you factioned in wolf form. Now your faction is lowered.
now that i think of it, if you got max kos as a human from threatening it would still make you kos in wolf form, but not max
Apprehensive: -449 to -50
Dubious: -699 to -450
Threatening: -1049 to -700
Scowls: -2000 to -1050
say humans start at -700 towards oggok
wolfs start at -50 towards oggok
difference between -700 and max kos -2000 is -1300
now with wolf at -50 + (-1300 the amount of faction you lost fighting as a human) = -1350 = still kos but not max
if you fought strictly as a wolf from apprehensive (-50) you actually lost -2050 faction agaisnt oggok. so fighting as a wolf would make that faction points greater

In a nutshell, it changes your race, so your racial faction modifier no longer matters.

Right, but you still HAVE a faction (beta neutral), which can then be affected.

I think I get it now lol. The reason I killed in wolf form was so I didn't have to waste mana shapeshifting to sell my loot to the merchants in the zone ( luckily not affected when you kill the guards). I mean I wanted to ask the question before I do this in the future with other factions. I think I'll try and stick to just having sow on and killing with that haha...
I guess to take from this that while wolf form can boost your base faction killing in it means that you can potentially lose a lot more.
I've been learning a lot about faction / per point modification lol! Thanks for the input though! I shall be more careful when I shapeshift.

Players themselves do not have a faction the way NPCs do and Beta Neutral is just the faction for many neutral NPCs, such as the druid ring vendors.
How we consider towards a mob is affected by our personal value for their faction (how many +/- hits we've taken through killing and quests) and the race, class and deity faction modifiers which are set in stone for each faction.
Wolf form changes your race modifier, that is all. Your class, deity and personal 'work' modifiers remain the same so whether you had accumulated negative hits in wolf form, or whatever your race is, it makes no difference.
