So I made a DE necromancer. I am level 3 and I been slowly leveling to 4. Is there a better area I should be in apart from the starting area? And any tips on making money; I could use bags so I dont have to make so many trips back.

Or better yet; what would YOU do if you were to make a DE necro from scratch?

Once you get your level 4 pet and meditate things will start to get better. Necros are like diesel engines. They take a while to get going but once they do they are nearly unstoppable.

Stick with it - the class definitely starts out slow. Level 12 is a perfect level to go on an adventure to Kurns and stay until 20-21. Levels 12 and 34 are huge power spike levels.

Okay. I'll keep at it. I used to play a necromancer a long time ago and I just want to relive the kunark soloing I used to do. Hehe. Soooon.

Make sure to kill every bear you see.. They have a chance to drop high quality skins and players will buy them in ec for around 30p each. Probably the best way to make plat under lvl 10.

Get Sense the Dead spell. Kill skeletons. Sell bone chip stacks to higher level necros in East Commons (one zone away from Nektulos). 10pp for a stack will get you all your basic bags or boxes from merchants.

Playing any caster class really blows for the first 12 to 14 levels honestly, some even longer.

My advice, once you hit level 12, buy your most important level 16 spells and then make the trip to Kurns Tower. Stay there until 20 and don't loot anything except bone chips or solists wands if you get lucky. Once you are 20 head back to civilization, grab your spells, sell bone chips for it if you need money for spells but try to keep as many as possible for later on.

I'm having fun with my druid so far. I wouldn't say it blows as of level 5ish. :D

That's just because you don't realize how bad you have it yet lol.

just rekindled my EQ flame too; although i had found p99 a long while ago....

im punishing myself by picking Shaman for first character to level.. =P made it to 13 so far. Shaman with no gear (troll no less, so no gnoll fang / orc belt rushing for me) is HELL till roughly 24... and then a slightly easier push to 34. beyond that though itll all be downhill (IMO). i ended up just trying to inner fire spam to help heal in a croc group last night... i realized my rusty spear is maybe doing 12 dmg every 5sec compared to the twinks doubling for 28 every 2sec =P i was semi useless... but hopefully good conversation ;)

at least as necro (any pet class really) your pets will help carry you through the toughest levels; with minimal downtime.

i think what Jolanar was getting at is some classes (pet classes are the obvious ones) have a much easier time with the 1-20ish grind than others as a first character. a Necro will be a tad easier to level than a Druid with zero equipment on either character; mostly because of the pet dmg and HP buffer, not to mention being able to med while your pet DPS's..

Druid will be just fine once you get all of your spell 'types'. Same goes for all caster classes really, but pet classes have it a smidge easier in the beginning.

I can see that, haha. I'm actually doing rather well with just level 1 spells so far... yeah, I have a decent amount of downtime, but between my fire dot and my okay ability to melee, not to mention the fact that I've been able to equip most of my slots with either drops or quest turn-ins (wolf pelts and the Jaggedpine Staff), I think I'll be alright. I'm sure there'll be dry points, though!

Thanks for the info. :D

Yeah and Kurn's tower is conveniently close. You can live there up to level 25 if you so like and hoard ernomous amount of bone chips.

Def, you'll do just fine as a iksar necro. :)
