Title says it all, mostly...

These could be windows notebooks, or even chromebooks running linux+wine.

-Are they a bit too small to see what's going on in the game world properly?
-Do you find the text in EQ easy to read on such a small screen size?
-From your experience do you think a 13 inch screen size would make a massive difference over an 11 inch screen size (or is 13 still too small), taking into account 11inch is much more portable?
-Also, do you think EQ runs well on the notebook you are using/have used?
-And if possible, what is the notebook you are using/have used? (Make/Model)

Comments and other thoughts please :)

I play on a 8" screen. It's fine. You're gonna get some lag when the on board graphics have to draw a lot of models and particle effects, so you'll have to tweak those settings. You can adjust the chat font size with /chatfontsize [0-5]. I play fine at a 1280x800 resolution.

If you plan on playing on the battery at all, the 11" will have noticeably more life than 13".

I played exclusively on a notebook. That way I can play while the wife watches her shows and be in the same room (wives dig that for some reason!).

I don't have any issue. Your main issue will be the onboard graphics and how much view distance it can handle. Mine is a Intel HD4400 and it seems to have no trouble with dialing the distance all the way up.

-Do you find the text in EQ easy to read on such a small screen size?
Fine for me. I think there is a way to change the size of text. Else you can change the font style to make it a little easier.

I wouldn't try to play on an 11 inch exclusively. I've used an 11 inch for work before and didn't really like it for general MS Office tasks so couldn't imagine it would be good for playing EQ.

-Also, do you think EQ runs well on the notebook you are using/have used?
Runs perfectly on my laptop. See below for model and specs. EQ is a very old game, and this server is a classic emulation so it's not gonna need much grunt to do anything. I remember playing EQ Live back when it first came out on a Pentium 2 (or a Celeron, can't remember) and a Voodoo2... Ah... those were the days!

-And if possible, what is the notebook you are using/have used? (Make/Model)
HP T5R13PA#ABG
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Intel Core i5-4210
Intel HD4400
8GB RAM
1TB SATA

Forgot to mention, notebook screen resolution is 1366 x 768, but I play in windowed mode at a slightly lower resolution. Image below is what my screen looks like, should help you make your decision.

Thanks for the great replies! :)

teamBlanky that screenshot is perfect, anything i was going to buy would be a 1366 x 768, it seems like all the UI windows fit on the screen well!

I'm going to try and borrow my neighbours 13inch hp stream book soon to see how well it runs on that, ill share my findings when ive given it a test.

Plane of Hate can be really choppy when monks are out pulling, suddenly a bunch of stuff moves at once and shit gets real slow for a while.

I have this laptop. Upgraded to Windows 10 and got a bigger SSD and it plays EQ great.

I play on a late 2011 13" MacBook Pro. Runs EQ fine on Wine. I however have a large monitor for design work that I hook up to my laptop. When I play only on the laptop, my biggest problem is smaller chat windows. I always feel like chats fly by and I miss stuff because I made them substantially smaller to create more room for other windows. Otherwise, you just get used to it. I can't imagine playing any smaller though.

I play on dual 24" monitors and my overall experience with P99 has been pretty terrible.

Mine is a 21 incher I think... and never had any problems in the 1900x1020 or whatever it is resolution.

I play sometimes on my chromebook at a massive 1440x900, also have a viewport setting in game that cuts it down to like 1440x560 or some such.

I used an 11" macbook air for a little while as a secondary couch machine, which prompted me to start building qqui (http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=232071) (due to obvious lack of real estate)

I had no real issues with it

Zenbook UX301LA. Native res is 3k but I play EQ in full screen 1366x768 and it runs fine. Onboard Intel graphics. Used to hear the fans spin up til I limited fps to 60. Now it is cool and quiet. 13" screen means /chatfontsize 5 @ 1366x768 works OK for my old eyes.

i always played on a 13 incher.

I can see the world just fine.
EQ text wasnt so bad to read, if anything it was all near each other so i could monitor melee hits, cast messages, and player text all at once for full manual control of my char. That goes with macros as well, fuck em.
13 is a great size. 11 might be too small.
It ran well on the laptop i had, now i have a chromebook and i cant get EQ to run for the life of me so im on a forced hiatus =(
i had one of those dell inspirons

I once solo pulled a super contested CT and Fear kite for the guild, and all the FTEs i have came from a smaller laptop. So in terms of the 13 inch working out, i would say it did.

i play on a small screened laptop switching from duxaui to QQui freed up a ton of screen real estate and made the game much more playable when i'm not hooked up to a real monitor. if you're not using it on a laptop you're playing in the dark ages.

I played on a 13in mac book pro for years, it was 100% fine. That is actually one of the things about EQ, the actual gameplay is generally pretty low key, so even if you have to use a track pad you'll be ok.

That being said, I have swarmed kited, raided top content as a mage, war, pulled VP as a monk, all on a 13in laptop.

Hope that helps!

./chatfontsize 1-2 and re-size chat windows also saved a lot of space.

I play on a 17" laptop but i don't play full screen (I have issues doing that.... it won't register mouse clicks when I click outside the 'window' that EQ launches in. It thinks i'm trying to click my desktop). So i play the equivalent of a 12-13" screen and I can see just fine. The laptop is like 2010 or so and running windows 7.

I also use the trackpad and no mouse. People always gasp when I tell them this.

You can set the windowed mode to your screen resolution (or just under) for that "almost full screen" experience <3

Like Swish said above, you can change the window resolution to make it larger. Perhaps you're aware and don't care, but I didn't know this for a long time and was playing in a small window on my already small 13" screen. It's in Options > Displays > Video Modes on the left column if I remember correctly. Or you can do it manually and edit the file yourself.

But playing on a trackpad? Yeh, you cray.

I use trackpad ... which means mostly using shortcut keys for things. I don't click much. :)
