Sometimes it feels like the 'Random Number Generator' is out to get us in eq... however on the very rare occasion it can feel like the RNG is our best friend, helping us get rare drops without having to camp or resisting that one spell at exactly the right time.

This thread is for you to post some of your favourite good luck stories. I look forward to reading what you have to offer!

The story of my first fungi: I won the last casino in EC before it got banned. Spent 37k on rolls and won fungi and cof. Sold cof back to the guy for 90 or 95k, kept the fungi. Soon thereafter, someone else won the roll with the same guy. He didn't pay up, there was a big thread about it, and casinos for got banned.

When i was in Asgard around the time Velious was released we were contesting a Vindi pop. I was lvl 55 at the time surrounded by lvl 60 competition. I went up to the spawn point with everyone else. as Vindi spawned, i grabbed FTE and clicked my DA idol. ran him to my raid like the road runner and feigned. We got our first Vindi kill that night and i was thrilled to have helped in the accomplishment.

I know Vindi is easy to many of us now and i have seen many more kills since that date, but when your guild is coming out of kunark with weaker gear, it was a challenge.

I was awarded DA's first major raid loot (Rakusha Cloak) because Bronson ran his mouth to Rogean and got booted from the server / suspended for a short time. Cloak definitely would have gone to Bronson over me since he was an officer and contributing a lot more than I was at the time.

Also won a pre-nerf fungi staff while I was tracking Tal because I was the first person to answer some trivia question. I had asked for a Ton Po's, but got denied. Pre-nerf fungi was a pretty decent consolation prize tho.

More recently we got a Torpor off our first kill when we specifically went to try and farm Torpor for a friend.

Sure there are others, but those are the three that come to mind.

I am not really sure I understand what you are talking about beyond luck, but I am pleased to say the fates have smiled kindly upon me of late. Not but three days prior did I get lucky with a certain Warlord during a stay in the northeast wing of the Castle Karnor.

My companions and I were engaged in an intense and thoroughly rewarding session and had just finished with our hands when I set out to check the cells. Thus far the experience had been fantastic and we'd been generously showered by the fashion faeires with an assortment of brand garments (Cobalt™, Bloodforge™, etc.).

Anyway I left the room to cool down and grab a breath of fresh air while rounding up some more locals to join us. The cells down the hall were scheduled to be re-occupied soon. I wrapped one of my sticks on the first door and it swung open! There he stood, tall, lithe and hard and white as diamonds with one fist wrapped tightly around what I instinctively knew to be his legendary staff. It was a bit intimidating when he thrust at me! My heart leaped with joy though as I dashed back to our room with him in tow.

It was intense, but he wore well before the rest of us and I cast my magical die. It could have been any number from 0 to 100, but this time it was 100! I squealed with joy and almost fainted. I stood nervously chewing my lip, trying to calm my racing heart as each of my companions rolled in turn and then I fell face first into the placid waters of ecstasy as my win was confirmed when the last roll failed to tie my glorious 100. I knelt and relieved the weary warlord of his great staff and have enjoyed every minute I've had with it since.

In retrospect I find it all the more fitting that fate should award unto me the stave of 100 blows with nothing less than a roll of 100.

The guy was just retarded. He was offering 300p per roll, you roll 0 to 1000 and win with 666, 777, or 888. With CoF at 95k and fungi at 75k, I don't know how he expected to make money. I decided to take a stab at it with 110 rolls, then traded in an SBS and SoS for more rolls.

Pained Soul spawned in the first 30 minutes on my first attempt. I ended up selling that piece when someone made an offer I couldn't refuse. My second attempt took about 11 hours but resulted in back-to-back Pained Soul spawns. I hope I never have to go back there because I think I'm due for a nightmare of a camp!

I was about to go to bed but decided to log in real quick. Sirken broadcasted a gm event about faeries having a special technology. I was bound at TD pots so I quickly ported to GFay and ran to LFay.

Even though I got there quick there were a ton of people in zone. I ran to the faeries camp and killed like 1 and of it had nothing. Then some lvl 20 runs by with like 10 of them and promptly dies. I assume he was in the area already. Anyway one of the mobs was a named faerie. Killed it and .... Nothing!

5 minutes go by and everyone realizes no more are left. Sirken appears in front of me an asks me if I got the guise. I said no and he told me it should have dropped from the Named faerie. guess he confirmed it in the logs that I had not looted, because after a few more minutes all of the sudden a guise appears on my cursor.

Luckiest moment by far. I had been wanting one for ages and assumed it would never happen.

Second is that I figured out a way to solo shimmering sea spirit ph in SG. I was able to hold down 2 camps. in about 20 hours total, camping off and on, I got 3 wavecrasher and 1 drum (roughly 800k in a bad market). I found out later from other people that I got very lucky on the spawn rate. Nice thing was that it was kind of an afk camp and very fun

Have two:

1) Camping Hadden and see Pyzjin pop on track with no one in zone. Ran over and saw the flashing red orb in her hand!

2) Logged in a few weeks ago into SRo on like a Tuesday at 3 PM EST. Was camping AC at the time (one spawn at 9 PM gametime will pop him (or not) once per day, that's it). Checked game time, it was 8 AM and figured someone killed the PH/him the night before. Decided to hit EC and pick up some ports until 9 PM rolls around, but check Track out of compulsion. See a blue "an ancient cyclops" up on track in the far corner of the map, at 8 AM!! Ended up snagging it for a family member's chanter that I had been camping him for!

I zoned from EC , thought the halfling raiders may be hiding the thief, negative. Ran around aimlessly , found the thief which resulted in a massive adrenaline rush I forget to auto attack.

Needless to say, I got FTE, the kill, and the elusive Guise of the Deceiver.

Florid and I were the other 2 people on the 3 man FTE crew. Chest was continuously pulling giants past us trying to get one of us to tab the giant and burn our clickies... Was one of the first times I realized how scummy BDA really is (I already knew, but this helped cement it - Picking on Asgard once again, big surprise). Anyways, this trick worked on Florid and he/she was going to get a new net or mallet or whatever he/she was using and Vindi poped and Trunge high stepped to glory. This is directly when BDA started to fall off, so Trunge could technically be responsible for the BDA implosion to mediocrity

There was a fun event set up by an old veteran of the server that was overseen by the GMs and ended in a massive pvp battle royal. I was Team Captain and secured Theya with my 2nd pick overall. I think Zanderr went first. We ended up finishing 2nd to a mostly Team Taken including Eratani. Each team got to pick an item and roll off. Of the 12 or so players on my team, I rolled the highest and ended up snagging a Manastone. Taken itself at the time went ES Greaves (think eventually went to Eratani?) -> Manastone (Xexbis) -> Shield of the Water Dragon (Bitchking) clean sweep of the rolls. He takes an expected loss...

Value of prize items = 95k + 75k = 170k
Chance of winning per roll = 3/1001
Value of each roll = 170k * 3/1001 = 509p
Price he's selling rolls for = 300p

early on here one of my fav cash camps was the HBC in Mistmoore - easy quick 4k -5K sale, nearly instant.

This one time I remember gating to my bind point above the PH on the wall, seeing him up - bam - looted the HBC.

Brought that baby to EC, sold it, gated back and low and behold he is up again with another cloak!

That time along with this magical 2 hours in Droga where I got X2 Gauntlets of Potence and Idol of the Thorned was some of my best luck solo farming.

Have also ran down to Chief before - always checking Soothsayer - who this one time was up with earring. That was nice surprise.

I was playing basketball on Wednesday nights pretty consistently in Dec/Jan or so, but I wasn't quite feeling up to it so I logged on and ended up going to Sleeper's and getting a Shroud of Longevity. I didn't think much of it at the time, but Ventani failed to cough one up for the next month and it ended up being the last one on the server.

I was also amazingly lucky rolling on A-Team Chardok raids. IIRC I won (against like 10-15 people) first an Insignia Protector, then Torpor, then another Insignia protector (gave to Xoquil because at that point I was just feeling embarrassed) and then a Jagged Blade of Mourning (to Lavarian for the same reasons).

On the other hand, I lost my first 17 fungi tunic rolls . . . .

To this day, I don't know why I was the first person picked. I don't know anything about PVP on a bard. I just ran around with my group playing selos and resist songs. I think it worked pretty well when I was with a monk.

Honestly, the people that probably did the best in that brawl were the people who just sat, waited, and watched everyone else kill each other first.

Of course. That's how I met you.

Doing cloaks for platinum was always more fun than power leveling because there wasn't any chance of really butting heads with people, unless people were killing Quillmane every time you spawned her.

However, getting 4K out of 1-4+ hours of constant work was pretty bad payout.
