I'm still relatively new to the server and am curious on how much I should donate when getting a port(10P?)... I don't want to be that old Aunt that gives you $5 for your birthday.
Thanks in advance

Depends on what you can afford, usually a generous from what i've seen would be 1pp per level. I usually throw 75-100 if i'm busy and need to get where im goin (but im lvl 50) 0_o

I've only been turned down twice when offering 10-15p. That buys a ride from the vast majority of porters.

Now I wish I had an illusion to show me as level 1 ;)

As a wizard, I receive an average of 20pp I'd guess.

Although I would never say anything when people give less.

I usually offer 30pp for ports. If I'm in a hurry that goes up.

I usually give 20-25, depending on what I'm carrying, but more than double that if I charter a flight (e.g., from WK to GFay to WC).

I used to give 5pp, recently I've been giving 10pp because I've started getting a bit more income. My main's level 37 and hasn't been farming or anything so he doesn't have a ton of money lying around. I haven't received any complaints. Also, if you're low level, people are usually fine with porting you for free.

I usually offer 30pp for ports. If I'm in a hurry that goes up.I never advertise that I'm porting for money. If I was, I suppose I would take whatever was offered. So the guy offering to port to BB/WC/NK/Tox for donations should probably get in the 20-30 range.

Most of the time I am getting unsolicited /tells from people asking for a port. (I'd prefer not to use /anon). From those people, I am expecting at least 30pp. I'll take less, but I'll also remember your name. My time is worth more than 20pp.

It does depend on level, I don't expect a level 10 to give much, but if a 50 gives less than 20 they seem cheap. Like a previous post I would never seem less than grateful for any donation. However if I'm soloing and I receive a tell requesting a port, I probably don't want to leave my camp to port for less than 40-50p. That's just how I feel. However if you're on a cr I'll always do what I can.

This was my unofficial guideline:

10pp is fair when you are in your lower levels
15pp in your 30s
20pp in your 40s to 50
25pp or more for specialty trips, you are feeling generous, or you are in a hurry

Basically any porter who is mad that a lvl 17 donated 10pp for a port is an ass, but a lvl 50 giving 10pp for a port is just being cheap.

Let's open this up further. What would you donate for clarity?

I haven't bugged an enchanter yet, but I suspect I would give 10pp. Considering it is a 75 mana spell, that seems fair. (compared to 450 mana for a round trip travel for circle/ring)

So how does that Compare to a shaman rolling out the full buff list for someone?
I've had many people ask for me to buff them, or their pets.
I have to sit and memorize a completely different set of spells and cast them all, it takes easily half my bar to give Str/Dex/Health/Talis/regen/SoW

Pretty much everyone has said "awesome! Thanks!" and ran off.

I never have and never will charge for SoW, more often than not, I decline any attempts to trade, but the full loadout, thats hard on a mana bar.

Yeah I give 10 for C, doesn't really take them any time except to cast so I think that's fair.

Tell them that some people make 1000pp an hour to power level others. And since it will take you 5 minutes to get that mana back, the prorated cost for a full buff-out is 80pp. They'll get the hint.

If you are sitting in the tunnel not doing anything, then it doesn't matter. But if you are camping something, you are basically power levelling someone at your expense of time.

I normaly get 20-50p depending on level.

If i do get a 5p or 10p I will always thank the person and wish them luck, but next time they ask i will probably be busy.

port = 370-450 mana (I port you then I either gate or teleport to where I want to go after your port)
Pickup + port = 520-600 mana (I port to a druid ring where you are then " " See above)

For most druids that's a sizeable chunk of their mana (about 1/4th for the pickup situation for raiding druids). I can probably kill a hill giant with that amount of mana, if you donate less than a hill giant drops 30p, then I may not be so inclined to come pick you up.

Anyone offering 50pp+ I'll take you up on that unless I'm preoccupied with something else.

10pp from a level 50 necro, i'll have to pass :P.

a 50 necro can pump your mana back, and should be shot if they dont offer to. :)

Im usually telling a druid something like "Can you port me from x to y for 40p?" Offering between 30-60p + crack depending on how fast i want to get there. Thats when im on my ench of course.

From a lvl 50 i expect at least 25p + for a port, i dont demand it, and dont say anything if i get less, but i will probably remember (most likely not, lol). From lowbies i dont expect anything.

I usually cancel donations for Crack on my Ench, its fast casted, memmed most of the time and costs little mana.

Man this makes me feel bad as I've only given 5pp or so on average as that represents anywhere from 5-10% of my worldly fortune at any given time. I'm only a 19th chanter so far.

I gotta say I never expect anything. It's like getting tipped at work. Some times you get a really nice one and some times you get a shitty one. If I have time I will port someone and if not I wont.

Honestly it is alot of time most days. I can't remember the last time I have logged in and not been bombarded with 3-10 messages asking for ports. This sort of shit takes a lot of time to get through, but it's donations so what teh feck. If I don't feel like rolling the dice then I will say I am busy.

When I am spending some dedicated time porting then I always advertise that I am *selling* ports (but I still run on a donation basis.) It's all a matter of how much someone can spare/wants to give.

Corpse runs always fly free. Newbs fly free, usually, or very cheap.

But I never spend enough energy to remember someone who has shorted me. It's just not worth the gray hairs!

It's amazing how long you can spend auctioning "WTB port" and then as soon as you give an actual figure of like 50p how many porters come flying out of the woodwork :p

Either give a fixed price for a port, or don't complain when someone only gives you 5pp, the over donations will compensate for the smaller ones.

You guys donate more for ports than most people give me for rezzes :(

Time to reroll a druid!
