Hello all,

New to P99 but a long time player of EQ.

Recently saw some videos on YouTube that mentioned P99, so I did some research and finally installed and started playing.

Looking for groups, new friends, and having fun.

Started an Ogre Warrior and leveled him to 7 in the last couple days by running around Feerrott, but not sure if this will be my main char yet.

Question, to those familiar with the population here (blue server)...
What classes are needed here most? For grouping at lower levels? For endgame raiding levels? Is there a shortage of any one particular class?

I've played most but not all classes in my many years of EQ, but haven't played at all for a few years.

Level 7 Ogre Warrior - PST in game to Loamah and say Hi.

Welcome. I'm pretty "fresh off the boat" myself. Old EQ gamer, new to the server. Not sure about needed roles so I fired up a cleric. Really enjoying all the dieing thus far, puts the hard in hardcore lol.

Stop this constant misrepresentation. People like you hinder red's growth.
And would you stop calling everyone who has a different perspective than you a troll? Kids these days just point fingers at everyone, "Troll! Troll! Troll! I saws it! It looked at me! Troll!"
There is a valid case to play red:
*End-game is not camped, you don't have to wait for your turn just to fight a mob.
*PvP is a more interesting mechanic to contrast the dry grind game of pve. You aren't losing items on death, whats the big deal you wussies?

*There are actual players who give hand-me-downs to new players. You don't have to run around naked. (although you must consider part of the game is the journey, stop being in your rush to lvl 52 using OP gear and smell the flowers instead)
*The server still feels new to me, reputations to be forged, guilds to be created, and of course players to be killed.
*Are you really really really having fun on blue waiting your turn? All those type of people on blue disgust me that seem content with this. They are sheep.(and im not a FKCING TROLL for expressing my sincere opinion)

Roll a char on blue
Play both for a while, decide on one or just keep both :)

It's not a misrepresentation. I've seen the types of people that play there. 99% of the people I've crossed paths with on blue are genuinely nice.

There is much more to this game than end game raiding. The fact that I can play an alt, or buff some lowbies without having to look over my shoulder is great. It's almost never a fair fight on red.

As for being naked, I was commenting on his level 41 wizard that is naked. Good job. Did you watch the video?

If red was so great, people would play there. I'm glad you like it there; it makes blue a better server. Thanks for that.

People do not play there simply because people do not play there. The server would be great if many more people were on it and this makes it a dilemma of where the player base currently resides.
If red was the first server and everyone had their social & pixel attachments on that server, I'm sure the roles would be switched. Its not fun and feasible to play on 2 servers for an average player, you'd stick with the one you feel rooted in.

and another thing, every single person except 1 i encountered on red99 was a helpful person or friendly person. some people going out of there way to help or some people just looking for a farming group. I only encountered 1 person trying to kill people, but they were defeated with the power of friendship when i was grouped with 2 others.

Nice logic. The server wouldn't be empty if more people played on it? No way! You also admit the dilemma of the server not being great as a result of it. Then you point out most people only want to play on 1 server. Why would anyone choose red? By your own words it's clearly the worse option. Aside from some pipe dream mentality that "it'll be great someday..."

You're right. I did call you a troll. I just call it like I see it. OP made a conscious choice to post on the blue forums. Red has their own. If he wanted to play on a PvP server, he would. Trying to lure unsuspecting victims into your path sounds like an accurate description of a troll.

yes its correct logic. we could have Bank One where 5000 people have kept their savings for years. Bank One has a 10% interest cost on loans and 1% interest gain on savings.

Then along comes Bank Two with 10 people who just joined. Bank Two has only a 5% interest cost on loans and has a 1.5% interest gain on savings.

Logically, Bank Two has a better plan for members. But the people all have a mass predetermined opinion they like Bank One because they have been using it. They would feel ostracized if they leave their group. They do not want to go through the paperwork to change Banks because they just can't be arsed.

I'll stay out of the red/blue debates for now.
Having enough on my plate just trying to remember a lot of the details to this game after being gone so long.

Thanks for the videos Dr. Jeff, brought back great memories of camping long spawns including Hadden (spelling?).

Decided to venture out of Feerrot and see some old familiar places, and ended up doing a corpse run 5 zones away from bindpoint, and laughing the whole time. Good times.
It's all just as fun as I remembered it, and now with the added nostalgia factor.
