Not sure where to put this so asking here.

-Is anyone aware of an issue with P99 that causes periodic (but very consistent) hitching? I have a pretty beefy system and most of the time the game runs very smooth but frequently when turning I get this little micro lag for just 1-2 seconds then it goes away. It causes the screen to stutter and then I'm usually facing the wrong way. This happens regularly and it has gotten me killed numerous times when pulling mobs on my monk.

I am running the game at 2k resolution (2560x1080) which makes me turn down my FPS to about 40-50 instead of 100 because at 100 I can't even turn. Not sure if the hitching is related to this but hoping someone has some info on what might be causing this and maybe a solution.

-Second and unrelated question: can anyone fill me in on where to get improved shurikens? The only ones I have found have a range of 60 which is practically standing next to a mob..almost completely useless for pulling. I know in EQ Live there were fishbone darts with a range of 200 but I'm guessing those aren't available here? I couldn't find any reference to them on the wiki or in the EC tunnel logging info.

Does anyone know if the fishbone darts are actually available on P99 or if there are better shurikens with longer range? I know summoned stuff is better but that isn't practical for me so not really a solution.

Doesn't matter how beefy your system is. EQ and Titanium is so poorly coded and old that it has hick ups on every system.

You should have FPS turned down anyway to avoid clipping issues that come up from time to time with zone geometry.

Fishbone Darts look to be a Luclin/PoP recipe. Long range pulling tool of choice: http://wiki.project1999.com/Stalking_Probe or http://wiki.project1999.com/Holgresh_Elder_Beads or http://wiki.project1999.com/Forged_Javelin or http://wiki.project1999.com/Antonian_Javelin

I've heard that you can use Duxa's all in one installer(find it by searching these forums) to fix the micro stutter issue. There's an option in there called "trim down installation" which is supposed to fix it.

Try lowering your resolution to see if that helps.

Try it at 1920x1080 ... "widescreen" doesn't give you any extra vision, it just stretches the screen and can seem a bit disorientating.

Thanks for the response. I get that there will be hickups but I play with others and they don't seem to be getting this hitching to the same degree that I am seeing it so I was thinking there might be something I could do to improve it even if I can't eliminate it. I normally play in windowed mode and have noticed that can cause some odd behavior so maybe I will try fullscreen next time I'm on.

As for the pulling tools..the javelins are quite heavy so not sure those would be a great option when I need to carry so many. Isn't there some bracers that summon shurikens or something? Maybe that was EQ2..I can't remember but I thought there was some way to get longer range shurikens that didn't involved going to PoH.

Eq literally runs better on crappier systems. Turn down your FPS to 30 and that should fix most of your problems.

The Velious quested bracers for thurg.kael,SS have summon shrunken on them but again they have shit range(100 range vs 60). Get the javs and buy a Weight reducing bag and keep them in there.

Getting a tink bag goes a long way for the javs and only pull them out when you need that long range hit, otherwise go with the shorter range shurikens for normal pulling situations.

Any of the Velious quest/Growth bracers for monks have Pouch of Quellious as a clicky, but only works at level 50+.

There is also the Bracer of Hammerfal quest. Involves some running around and 50p a go. Summons a stack of shattering hammers with 55 range. As a monk you should be able to do it with sneak, if you don't have good CoV/Coldain faction.

OK, thanks for all the info everyone. I guess I was thinking of the velious bracers or maybe something else from EQ2. It will be a long while before I could do any of that. I guess my best option is to work towards getting weight reduction bags and just use the javelins. Appreciate all the info! Thanks again.

There's also these which are 70 range, but I believe you need to be Amiable or higher with Coldain to buy them:

Those are at least a bit better but I don't think I will have access to Velious for a long while considering my low level. It also looks like there aren't any weight reduction bags that are that affordable or easily accessible to a lowbie so I guess I'm stuck with crap 60 range shurikens for the foreseeable future.

Really don't get why shurikens have such a short range. I usually end up body pulling before I can even get in range to throw which is silly and counter-productive. :(

Protip: if you put a 205 range jav in your ammo slot and use shurikens in your range slot, the range on the shurikens increases to the average of the two numbers.

Wow..if that is true you have saved the day! That would be awesome. Thanks for the info.

I think the word you are looking for is emergent gameplay.

Theres 2 easy to obtain WR bags in lguk that you can get while leveling

Also, theres one in sola and one in solb that are small items only, but 100% WR (solb is 100 for sure, sola one might be a bit lower)

As another option to this..are there any clicky items with some sort of instant cast spell with a decent range that could be used for pulling?

Better than when everyone was using froglok skipping stone from swamp of no hope, which had a huge range and was bugged so that it stayed in your inventory when you threw it

Should have run a query for everyone that had it equipped and perma-banned them.

Well I tested this with a throwing axe (120 range) because I didn't have a javelin and it didn't work. Unless this only works with a javelin.

The posted range does not change. The actual range when throwing the weapon increases. I use shurikens and 1 jav on my monk.

It must just work with the javelin then. I tested this by dueling someone. I got max distance with a shuriken by itself and then equipped the throwing axe and took one step back and it just says "you are out of ammo". If I took one step forward again (with axe still equipped) it would throw the shuriken like before.

So I have tried all the suggestions in this thread. I have tried running at 1920 resolution instead of 2k. I have run in windowed and full screen. I have tried the duxu multi-core fix. I have my FPS turned down to 30. Nothing is really working to resolve the hitching effect. Running in fullscreen instead of a window *seems* to make it a tiny bit better but not enough. Anyone else have any suggestions? For pulling/sneaking in dungeons this is really annoying.

I have Windows 10 installed on an SSD drive and my games (including EQ) installed on a 3TB SATA drive. I'm wondering if I moved my EQ install to the SSD if that would help. I read some stuff that EQ freaks out whenever the HD gets accessed or something but with 16Gb of RAM I wouldn't think that would be happening too much. I do have strangely long load times though so it might be worth trying it just for that.

Quick update in case others are having similar issues. I went ahead and moved my EQ directory to my SSD drive and this seems to have resolved my hitching issue as far as I can tell (haven't really experienced it again in a couple hours of play and I'm using 2k resolution). It also greatly reduced my zoning time as expected.

Also try and exclude logs folder from antivirus. I had problems with this in the past.

Do you have logs on? In that case, exclude them from Antivirus software.
