It took me 1 search to find ~40 threads specifically talking about the game pantheon. Some of which had hundreds of replies. Dating back to early 2014.

I'm just hoping its more like EQ and less like Vanguard. New stuff is fine, but I don't want an open world wow clone.

They are already moving in the right direction with no quest progression, but they need to follow through and keep stiff death penalty and not compromise in all the places Vanguard did.

The closer Pantheon is to the mainstream, the harder it will be for the game to stand out.

They stated it won't have anything to tell you what npc gives quest, and that you have to figure it out. Course... Mu belief is they end up selling it when they run out of funding aka Sigil 2.0

Ya they have lots of great ideas like the way they are doing quests. The articles about Climates, Perception and Conversation Paths all sounds great. Then on the other hand they bring up stuff like collecting pets and trying to bring back shit ideas from vanguard like caravans.

It almost sounds like their money man is feeding them bad $ ideas and they are trying to find a middle ground. Maybe they can appease him but it will only lead to more and more convenience if they compromise. That and the whole pet thing looks like ground work for a cash shop.

They have to stand firm on their EQ principles if Pantheon is going to be special. Vanguard, for all its great ideas, was too close to the mainstream.

As long as McQuad isn't hopped up on hillbilly heroin this time around, Pantheon has a chance. It also will be necessary for him to not sell out and then bail right as the game is unexpectedly released. Otherwise, his plan to make a modern EQ1 is a good one.

Funding Unsuccessful

This project's funding goal was not reached on February 22, 2014.
This is still being developed? They get funding, or just going with very low-budget?

They do regular updates and have their own crowdfunding now. In addition, they have an unknown angel investor. After their gameplay twitch they got a lot of new funding from people like me.

They've been blitzing mmorpg.com with updates and write ups on game systems and mechanics. Hopefully it helps.

Best thing they could do tho is add options for pledges under $100. Id guess they lost out on thousands of pledges due to this amateur mistake. Only a serious eq/vg fan is going to drop twice the box price of a game helping crowdfund an indie project.

I had a picture of Brad at a investors presentation sitting at the head of the table obviously strung out (if you have been around stuff, you know the look)

He was completely dead in the eyes, slouched posture, facial muscles slouching in a vapid expression of soul-rending, and attempting to talk passionately about Vanguard's future to these millionaires sitting in the audience.

They deleted the FOH forum where I originally posted it back in 2007. It was as poetic as it gets, as the photo was taken for press reasons by a freelance photog friend of mine, and Vanguard hadn't come out yet but had recently been dropped by Microsoft. I was basically the only guy with the photo.

Brad's face and condition in the photo, while nothing to make fun of, was a Vanguard illustrative classic.

Happy to see him in 2016 as he looks like he has put the worst of those days behind him now, albeit at the cost of eating more often.

I support Brad in all of his endeavors. Game looks good. Just needs some polishing.

Hopefully the player base is big enough because the game sounds pretty expansive. Last thing you want is that ghost town feel.

kinda ironic how far brad has come dispite setbacks. I was pretty sure this game would never exist, and now it looks more functional than anything sony presented when it comes to eqnext.


I will definitely try this when its out.
