Surgeon's General Warning:
Have patiently analyzed, dare I say scrutinized, the plethora of guilds (potential raiding ones) that are not entirely loaded with past scandals, poofing toons once generosity (and epic time literally) was given, and overall a classy group of mates that understand EQ is "a hobby - "not a damn habbit" (stole that from a vape shop sign btw).
Being experienced with many different guilds over the years on another toon before my long hiatus, I discovered, as many of you agree, there are many (certainly not all) guilds filled with undeveloped man children whose aridity for pixels are... well... kind of sickening. Gdamut if they arent contagious for some reason.
So.... chapter 2...
I joined Veloci Shift recently. It certainly is not be the best I have ever experienced in my EQ life including Xev server- but it shares something unique that I have not found in quite a while - a fucking community of people that work together, share stories, are fucking adults and have humanity... most of the time. Some are mature, there are, as always, a few who post random non sense in /gu when its way past their bed time. Some of its funny actually, much welcomed to my comedians
To make this the non readers digest version, I sincerely wanted to share, whether you give a shit or make silly epigrams about my sappy marketing skills that.........
DAMN IT FEELS GOOD TO BE A GANGSTA AGAIN. Or a simple member of an awesome community who is at least attempting to bring back P99 from the anti-group, constant bard hogs (that was unnecessary, but I can't trip them and it makes me sad), intelligent conversation, advice, and honest help.
And just solid friends, who with charm and dry humor and leadership skills dont have to be a straight dickhead all the time.
Integrity takes time. Can't say that the group has that covered yet, because I don't know.. But in my short time here, I've always been offered for group, constructively criticized for my jobs and abilities (destructive criticism is sometimes ok... but most people's crevasses are too tight to receive the same treatment) - and most of all, they get it. It's a game. Not keeping up with the Jones's.
My first day I cannot tell you how flabbergasted I was at not just wisdom, but practical gear. Wanna use my insanely useful item for a while? Boom, its yours. If that trust is broken then you werent worth being in the fam anyway. Hot damn, that seems like good procedure to me. Sadly, it's just rare.
If you are still reading this tirade of sappy bullshit, you understand what I am saying. I was a little worried beloved P99 was turning into a bunch of corpsed fungis whose owners consistently camped and never leave because of pixel greed... or maybe rent payment. Or bastards that simply just ignored me when asked cordial advice (too many times) - not for a port, not while on a raid, but while in the same damn groups sometimes. Although I am a halfling and we are strange critters, I felt like a lowly squire from Fleabottom and they were Joffreys in the Red Keep. I doubt they were roleplay.
Hats off to you. VS. I'm sure there are jackasses here, but I wanted to quit. I gave up. Pixels, while I admit are important to me, it isnt the reason I play this 16 year old game. Skill is not in how well and fast you get all those wonderful raid bosses and pixels. It's the skill that made MMO what it is today - cooperation and a carebare type family (jk).
While I'm sure there are other helpful communities and guilds about... I am glad to be accepted into one that, despite future batphoning (that I'm sure) and impressive mischief from few.... the amount of Judge Judy-esque raid negotiations and untrustworthy actions and just inhuman, robot solo/100 mob kite bards/antisocial weirdo behavior is vastly limited.
Community is where its at. Maybe pixel chasing is kinda fucking up the humanity of a community that, in the start, was about nostalgia and commonality (oh, this is not red99 we are talking about btw ;) thats another story) --- I work in early childhood education IRL and spend far enough time with children. Forreals.
Thank you VS for being adults. So many forum rants about "she took my Tstaff and I needed it more! He corpsed two fungis in the same group" blahblahblah.... I could do without that. I'm a grown as man and... chances are... you probably are to... so.... what true value do you find in this bro? Honestly?
Talk shit, make your funny puns and references, but some of the mates i've come in contact with rival Ned mo'effin Stark with their principle and honor system intact.
And we all know what happen to him.... :|
---- for the record, if this truly wasnt the case, if i'm bullshitting and there was nothing sincere in this huge novel........... as was in my last few guilds... I would just leave VS and consider quitting once again.
Happy to be back. Flame away my darlings.
