I just got the torch of Alna (mage quest) and its primary slot only, my sacrifial says primary secondary, but only goes in my primary hand. Any idea why this is ?

You can put the sacrificial dagger in your offhand because casters can dual wield.

THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS, IT HAS TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT CASTERS CANNOT DUAL WIELD.
