Crashing to Desktop

When loading in any character of mine to Overthere. Like i get to the character load screen then enter world I crash to desktop. This only happens in the Overthere zone. Any ideas?

Try deleting overthere files in your EQ folder.

I tried that, but it's a no go. I get to load screen when i click on my toon in Overthere and it just crashes to desktop. Checked to see if it patched overthere files in and they are still gone. I just moved them in a folder on my desktop though didn't delete them. Figured if they are not in eq folder it didn't matter. I just didn't wana take a chance in losing them.

They are most likely corrupt. You need to pop into your ISO and grab a fresh set. In the mean time make a petition about it to have your toons moved out of zone so you can play. I had this happen to me last year just with WC zone files instead.

I got new files put in and to no avail. I did a fresh install and i'm still crashing to the desktop only when logging into my characters that are stuck in Overthere. Very frustrating. I did petition to get my toons out of OT but as OT is a very popular place to get around i'm hopping we can find a fix.

its all your toons or just one? if just one, he might have glitched into a bad position. try the bugs forum

Maybe your ISO files are corrupt to. Have someone upload KNOWN working OT files and if it's not that then you might need to trash your ini files.

Was due for a new PC anyways. Went and bought a new PC. Got new ISO discs, installed and i am still unable to access OT. Any ideas?

Can you zone into OT on any of your other characters?

@paul. I just tired again with another toon, Hethan and now he is stuck in OT as well. Like stated before i can load to character screen and it shows them in OT but when i click enter world I get tossed to desk top. @ Dillian this is a new ISO.

It might be that bank error that popped up earlier last month. You might be holding on to something and also have something in the bank ( well the game thinks you do )

Are you 100% positive that this copy of EQ isn't coming from the same place as it did before? This is most likely a client-side issue, meaning you're getting bad files. If you're mounting/burning the same files and not seeking out a new source then that would explain the issue.

There's a small chance that something about the OT zone files is conflicting with your account, so what I would do is log into a different account and see if you can enter OT - if that character gets stuck in OT for you then it's confirmed a problem on your side, meaning you need a new copy of EQ from an entirely new source.

Assuming your copy of EQ is bad, then there's an even smaller chance that attempting to zone a character into OT will put that character into a bugged state, so I would use an unimportant character on someone else's account - if it gets stuck, see if they can log into that character. If they can, that again confirms it's a problem on your side.

I highly doubt this is the issue because this was an issue that was character-specific, which isn't the case for Hethan as he already tried moving a new character into OT and that character also became stuck. The person who had the item data problem could use other characters in the offending zone.

maybe a file is missing not sure never had this happen before.

He already got a new computer as mentioned upthread, which further makes me believe it's just a bad copy of EQ.
