View Full Version : Movie Remake You'd Actually Want to See?

Nowadays it seems like the movie industry is flooded with remakes, particularly super hero remakes.
I personally think a remake of Lawrence of Arabia could be good, the original changed or left out so many parts of his life that I thought made a better story. Also the impact that WWI had on the middle east gets overshadowed by the effects in Europe with versailles.
What about you guys?

Dune by Lynch
The Alejandro Jodorowsky version would be awesome as a remake. Lynch inherited a mess that he had no idea what to do with. Did the best he could.
I cant think of many things I want to see remade. Im looking forward to some of the original stuff finally being worked on. Brave New World, Snow Crash, Neuromancer, and a few others are on my radar.

Dune by Lynch
I was tempted to list that, but then there was that mini-series, and look how that turned out :(
Then Blade Runner came to mind, would be my 1st pick by far, but just no! :p
Maybe Event Horizon, cant mess that one up any more :D ...though prolly would.
Maybe if we just scuttled the movie industry and started over? :/

We'll see how Lynch does with the next iteration of Twin Peaks. Loved that shit the first time.

Actually I would like to see a non-animated remake or adaptation of Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Probably a lot of good old silent era stuff that could be remade and updated.

Years ago I listened to a recommendation of yours regarding Beast of the Southern Wild. 2hours of my life I will never get back and I have held it against you ever since.

Oh I know, a pity remake of something horribly awful to actually being good: Wing Commander.

Usually Ethan Hawk gets on my nerves but Premonition was awesome. Its how I imagine Maerlith's life will end with him finding out he is his own grandpa.

Krull 2 *or remake it with new graphics*
Time Bandits **remake this 21st century style
... but with how things are, we'll probably get "Ernest plays D&D", or something like that.

Sacrilege! Is the goblin king supposed to just have a regular sized buldge? A king needs a king sized buldge, everyone knows that.
Lawrence of Arabia was a dope suggestion btw OP. I didn't know I wanted that until reading your post.
As far as older movies go, I'm kind of a big Steve McQueen fan, but after what they did with the Thomas Crown Affair, I'm not sure I want them redoing Bullitt or The Great Escape. A modernized Cool Hand Luke might be kind of cool. I feel like TV has done a lot with the prison setting lately, but there hasn't been much in film (or maybe they have and I just didn't see them.)
I'd probably go with the French Connection though. A lot of really basic appeal to it - cops vs crooks, shoot outs, car chases, etc and a remake could attract a whole new audience that would be turned off by how dated 70s movies can feel.

I would like to see a remake of Spawn. Great comic but horrible movie adaptation. Could be pretty cool with the CGI we have today.
