BEST of the BEST tournaments!

Let's bring it back...What say ye GM's? One thing I always loved were the BOTB tournaments. In the spirit of classic EQ, it would be really cool to see some of the GM events. Even if the reward is a title, or something...I'm sure someone could scrounge up the old GM event reward items.

Double XP is great, don't get me wrong...but nothing like a big duel in the arena! :D

People seem to enjoy player run events as long as they arent pvp related and we usually get good turnouts. I dont know why there is such a strong aversion but people just dont want to fight.

The last GM event was near halloween but it was not pvp based, it was more of a treasure hunt. The DoF attempted to do a player run PvP event and another forumquester tried to do a PvP event, both in 2016. Zero people total signed up for them, even with a bunch of prior notice and a pretty reasonable rule set. People on p99 absolutely do not want to fight each other unless there is some chance of the GMs giving them a prize like a title or otherwise unobtainable item. My theory is that the community is small and people dont want to lose face by losing a fight, which is pretty stupid since you spend years building your character but it is what it is. Bumfights allows you to remain anonymous and use level 1 characters so that is a little different. I've only ever succeeded in talking 4 players total into fighting in 1v1 pvp/roleplaying events.

I almost had Hokusin and Detoxx on the hook for a 1v1 battle of Raid Leaders. But then they started QQing about raiding and lost interest.

The DoF was not involved in this event beyond streaming. It was put on by Rygrim's good friends and staff assisted in memory of one of the server's players. The friends stripped their characters and gave things to participants and the winner.

Most of the people who won their BOTB titles aren't playing anymore or got banned for RMT/Showeq/w/e

Wasnt there a test of tactics done prior to Luclin release? or was it shortly after? I would LOVE to see 6v6 teams from both red and blue server duke it out.

They did multiple Test of Tactics, I think generally before each expansion?

DoF tried to put this on a while back but no one signed up or acted enthusiastic. Now if I had a pet guide who could kidnap people for me...ehehehe...

Velious BotB's were already in my plan when we did the first wave. The titles from the Kunark BotB will not be altered, as different titles where already put aside years ago for this purpose :)

This, plus admin who doesn't care. Sirken tried to do the BOTB red v blue but Rogean didn't open up the arena on velious beta. That's how little he cares.
