Does anyone still maintain the requests for IP exemptions? Wanting to show my kids what I was playing back when I made them, but haven't seemed to have any progress on the forums.
Please don't tell me this thing has started to go largely un-attended, a part of me will die. :(

The 3 or 4 volunteers that are capable of doing it have real lives that they attend to.

How long ago did you request? Have you been bumping the thread? (You shouldn't be.)

They're done in batches rather than singles - some people just arrived early for the next batch, if you know what I mean.

I have absolutely no idea what kind of an answer that was Thulack. I understand "real lives" as well as anyone, but thanks for pointing out what should already be painfully obvious?
Kaight, 3 days ago. Just curious, as I said, I was more fearful this had perhaps become one of those abandoned projects. =(

It means it will get done when it gets done. There is no set time. People have been complaining for the last week or 2 and they have been waiting month plus. Dont get your hopes up.

If they have been waiting over a month, I'd say that qualifies for virtually dead. =(

Yeh, you'll likely have to wait longer. Seen quite a few people saying recently that have been waiting weeks, as someone else mentioned. But those were possibly all fulfilled, not sure. Anyway, just don't bump your request thread. They go by oldest first so bumping drops you to the bottom.

Disregard Kushie OP. His guild was exiled from P99 and he is quite unstable and salty about the entire situation. Also upset that he lost a role-playing contest (did not even make top 3 in fact).
Sounds like a wave of exemptions will be coming soon, but you will probably have to wait a week or two.

Ya keep talking about "virtually dead" because you had to wait a couple days... that'll get your name right up on the list!

No reason to blast the guy for asking a question....
I can tell you the surefire way to make the bottom of the list / get skipped is to bring it up. Let us all pray to baby sky wizard you didnt directly ask them or ask about it in your exemption post. I've played on this server on and off since 2009/2010 and never got accepted for an IP Exemption when applying. Shits classic

Think you should re-read my comments. You are misrepresenting me.
I never complained, I inquired. I even explained, my only fear was that long wait times were an indication that the server interest was fading out. More to do with community interest rather than staff. The first time I involved myself in this project was real close to when it first began. Back when the inky mask was still available to all race/classes etc. I had remembered requesting an IP Exempt back then and it happening almost same day.
I love this project. I spent an obscene amount of my life invested into Ultima, EQ and p99. I really hoped to get to show my boys the grandfather of modern mmo's in as close to it's native form as possible. This is it. If this is gone, or when it goes away that will truly mark the end, and that will break my heart.
I appreciate every hour of effort every volunteer and every staff member has put into this beast of a project so that we have a place to play. I'll never be anything but grateful to them.... I'm certain you feel the same.

I followed the advice of others and used my cell phone's hotspot as an interim. Data usage is less than a lot of YouTubing on the train. I've been waiting a while for my own exemption; best to keep your head down they say.

You just have to be patient. Things tend to slow down in the summer since a lot of the CSR are preoccupied IRL. I also believe there will be more Guides brought on shortly and perhaps a few returning.

You could play like 8 hours of eq on data connection and its gonna be like watching a 5 min youtube video lol
Apologies OP, the forums require increasing levels of moderation and as such the real work of doing things like IP exemptions has to be put to the side.
As Llandris says more staff will hopefully help to alleviate the growing request list.

Meep, not sure if you're part of the moderation team, but if so you certainly do not need to worry about apologizing to me. I have 0 complaints, and all the patience in the world, as long as I know we'll get there, then I'm content to know we'll eventually get there!
Just don't want to hear it isn't going to happen because not enough people care about p99 anymore to keep it running.

So glad you had the opportunity to flex your grammar skills. I honestly don't know what we would have done without your input here. I don't think anyone would have understood what he meant! Praise you.
P.s. God you're sooo smart.

Aaaaactually, "attend to" was used correctly, as in "to pay attention to (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/attend)."
Wow, it DOES feel good to correct (wrongly, in your case) people's minor usage mistakes on the internet!

I have shit grammar anyway. I love internet English teachers though. They work so hard for such little pay.
Why is this so difficult to maintain? Even if you set it so it's done at the beginning/end of every month (or some other arranged time scale), then it gives people visibility on what to expect.
Meanwhile, physically this is NOT hard to do. Rogean could easily hire any number of volunteer deputy staff whatever you want to call them, that can assist with this.
The way it's been handled over the years has been extremely poor.
Or they could stop the bullshit and just let people dual box.
You are more then welcome to start your own emulated server and handle the process however you want. The goal of this server is not to have a high population or make it popular.

Guys this is a volunteer position on par with digging wells in Bangladesh for people living without fresh water. They are very busy and don't have time to devote the eighteen hours a day it would require to answer petitions. If you don't like the exceptional service here then you should request a refund.
Or it could be that Rogean doesn't equip his staff with the abilities necessary to easily grant these requests in a timely manner that could be done with thirty minutes of free time a week, even for those of us balancing a family and a seven figure business. You can always put in your app though as long as you meet the qualifications of other staff members such as Greengrocer / Ephi / Amelinda / Deruabel etc. (just a coincidence none of them were gainfully employed)

don't hire casuals to run a hard core game
you should be able to do the same pulls top end monks do before being able to pass any kind of judgement
oh yeah, and sql queries to change binary flags require teams of scientists and months of research
just kidding, if it isn't done they haven't felt like doing (it getting obvi in here or just me) it
try to get mad maybe that will help
interesting turn to this thread

Some really hostile people here, lol. Summer in the northern hemisphere people, go outside a little!

Ain't about being hostile. I appreciate that people devoted what was likely over a thousand hours of work on coding this server. I don't think anyone has an issue with the people like Nilbog and Haynar, etc., etc., who coded the server so that we could have a P99. When I've donated to P99 it's because I appreciate that work. It's the CSR that's atrocious. I feel badly for Llandris and the others who truly care and want to make a difference but aren't able to. The guides here are basically being thrown into Syria without any weapons or rations and told to go help people. God bless them.

Maybe the GMs arent here to cater to mouthdroolers' idea on how to run a game you dont pay for? You're probably the guy that shows up to bands shows screaming random song names out over the performance, like they showed up to take requests from the rudest dude in the crowd.

They had a job! Oh wait they didn't.
They were extremely lucky to get Braknar and Llandris.
In retrospect, knowing what we know today in 2016, I don't think Uthgaard spazzing out was enough reason to 86 him. Comparatively, in-game bergouts and a smattering of questionable bans during said bergout completely pale in comparison to the above listed Fellowship.
I was under the impression everything Uthgaard did was transparent. That's enough reason to give him a pass.
