The Skipito Project - Ogre vs Gnome War Journal

Hello everyone! I am starting a journal which will consist of a Gnome Warrior and a Ogre Warrior lvling side by side, same lvl , and similiar items. We could not decide which race to pick for our warrior, so we are gonna play them both! Enuff thinking!

First up to bat is our man Skipito! , proud Gnomish Warrior! He is lvl 4 at the moment and ready to kill! Starting Stats

Next we have the handsome Ogre warrior who goes by the name of Rayroy. There can only be one Rayroy! This lucky Ogre has the joy of leveling in the lonesome ass swamp atm as this is being written. Level 4 is near!

Both of these guys do not have any stat gear, and only a few peices of cloth gear each,The gnome may have a little patchwork. Both will be banded out soon for a more fair comparison! Stay Tooned. Both will be lvled to 60 is the plan evenly side by side. LOL yah right is what you and I say, but the voices in my head tell me this is whats going down, so i guess we will see!!

If you can, try leveling them in the "natural" places (gnome in Crushbone and Mistnmore, ogre in Guk) for a while.

---How went lvl 3?---
We have made it to lvl 3! It seems to have been a faster process , but slower than the ogre in terms of grief. We are not as hardy lol. Not really dodging or getting missed by mobs as much as we would have wanted with 105! Damn! -- On the brighter side of things , we met some friendly gnomes in Steamfont that we grouped with. Very nice bunch! We fought some kobolds randomly from a few camps and had a decent time compared to the lonely swamp at the time with Ogre. Gnome Power! A very gnome friendly druid by the name of Luminaria gave me a sow and ported me to Butcherblock from steamfont!, which we then headed over to Kaladim to turn in bonechips. We got lvl 4 with chips and have since decided to stay here and do the quest to lvl 5 ! Exp was muy bueno, and still is at lvl 4. Almost a yellow a turn in! Stay tuned for Skipito's journey to get lvl 5!

--- How went lvl 3?---
Well it seems Ogres have all the luck. Someone while leveling randomly gave me a Crude Stein, Huzzah! I figure i'll try to sell this for overpriced to some fool later, and further fund my little project! Then some sweet ass druid druid named Paradopx hooked me up with a Split Paw Hide Vest and Gloves after being a beggar/panhandler in the swamp. He also made a promise to later give me a WAR only weapon from city of mist later on when he was not as busy. I am currently stalking him in game to get this , but not luck as of yet. : (
As for lvling, we piddled around the swamp and killed mobs here and there. Exp is slower than gnome for sure , even at this lvl ! We managed to get around 12 bonechips , and also discover on the internet this is a bonechip quest in Grobb. Hurray! Tears of disapointment are always the sweetest ... The quest gave me a whopping .4% of lvl per turn in , Point Four, as in it would only take me around 200 turn ins to make level 4! So we then took our disgruntled ass back to the swamp and went back to lvling the old fashion way. We found a buddy in the swamp, our first legit groupage, and made lvl 4. Starting to like this Ogre Warrior.... Thinking about playing hiim to lvl 5 first, then the Gnome

I am interested in following your little project here. Even if you don't take it to lvl 60 I'd be curious to see any major differences you notice between the two different race choices. I mean, besides the fact that you probably have to beat off all the ladies the gnome deals with due to his gorgeous looks.

Ok here we go, we are lvl 4 and these are the accounts of his journies.
Frenly , a friendly elf, has donated a Bronze Helm, Gaunts and Arms , Holy Shit! Very nice presents! Rayroy is starting to look pretty good and not like such a scrub anymore, woot. AC is now 139 with upgrades. What's this Paradopx is on! We send him tells and bug him about the WAR only weapon he has promissed us, oh goody : ) We had dreams the previous night about our weapon hehe. NO RESPONSE from him, DAMN! Ahhh... we then notice we are starving and parched. Getting tired of seeing this message , we decide to go in search of muffins and milk. Eventually we will get to the leveling thing lol. However on the way in a lizardman by the name of Srizil has given us a longsword, score. He tells us that it is worth 11plat, and we look him up and down to see if he is fibbing to us. Upon finding a merchant to buy food and drink, we find out he was not! Money money, 11plat! Very nice of him
-- Paradopx has answered ! But at the same time we go LD and get booted back to the login screen, FML! My mouse cursor has also seemed to have been stolen by God, because it is plain missing . No more buying laptops from Dope Fiend Willy!
-- Ah! Paradopx has kept his promise and made and appearance. ( also brought gifts! : ) OMG, I recieve 151 plat, a Kunzar Kun'juch, a Wintry Club, Vilks Dark Defender , a Gnoll hide Lariat, and BUFFS! Ogres truly do have all the Luck . _Fried Chicken Shitty_ commends u Paradopx and Frenly, as well as the lizardman.

We then ran around like superman with the druid buffs and got lvl 5 super quicklike . Well time to lvl the gnome. and crap, i forgot to get the lvl 5 numbers on Rayroy : ( -

Level 4 here we go! After and hour of trying to log in this morning , we are in! Don't know what was up with the login. Looks like we camped out in front of Kaladim last. Huh.

Well we are about 45 mins into the level or so, and we must have slaughtered about a 100 broke ass goblin whelps by now . We also looted a dwarf skelly with ablsolutely nothing on him, not even 1 damn copper. I had no idea that was even possible lol, broke-est mob ever! We however have about 24 bonechips, and this should be enough to make the level. I am not sure if I want to get to level 6 with Ogre or Gnome first. Gnome has been pretty boring with his lvl 4-5 purge.

Just spotted " a large skunk" , first one ive seen the whole time ive been here. I remember back in the day there used to never be a time I was not walking around with a skunk spray CHA debuff, and getting treated badly by the vendors : ( Must be an endangered species now lol. I guess i will not slay it...

Ah turning in bonechips now and we swear we are gonna slap Gunlock Jure if he gives us one more rusty weapon! We need armor damnit. Well time for a 30 minute catnap taught to us by _Fried Chicken Shitty_ . The mastery of the catnap. We are now Lvl 5!

We are now lvl 6 lol!! Skipito managed, with his gimp ass, to get it pretty quickly with the help of the bonechip quest. Still a very good quest at lvl 5! We also fekked up and forgot to get the lvl 5 stat numbers of hp/ac ect : ( We went through level 5 so fast hehe. Well what happened in level 5? .... Hmmm, we noticed we are carrying 1800 copper, wtf lol! Milk and Muffins for all! We noticed we are KOS to craigchicks now, oh my. While minding our own buisness and collecting bonechips, we got attacked by a gang of them, like 4. It seems they have formed a squad and decided to kick my ass. Sent me back to steamfont they did.

A note about some RL/Vid game phenomena. Well upon dying from the craigchick beatdown, we see a "a large skunk" as the last thing we see before zoning. Well i'll be damned ! While running back to get corpse, we notice the little bastards are everywhere now, what in the hell. It must be that one old phenomena of when u first notice something new and different that seems weird to you , and different, you start to see it everywhere from that point on. It slowly blends in to your reality from quite a few different angles at different times , and there we have it. Next thing you know it im complaining about the sheer number of skunks in the area like I didnt freak out when I saw that first one or something. Maybe grandpa wasnt lying about walking uphill both ways to school, and did everyone's eyes used to look like that!?!?!?! oh man... lol

Well some quick thoughts on being level 5 with the ogre and level 6 with old Skipito . Who do I like the most so far?? Hmm , honestly I started the gnome as the main I was gonna play, then got into the ogre warrior fanboat propaganda on the net and made him to be my main. After much thought of being a gnome and how sweet a pocket tank would be, I decided wth gonna play both. Well Rayroy , the ogre , has found a sweet spot on me it seems. I have him in full banded ATM with a fee extra goodies and some sweet weapons due to some very nice donators! I have a full banded set for the gnome ready to go as well however as well as a weapon or two for him. So they are both pretty damn near the same gear wise , exception being some badass in EC gave me a killer 2 hander with 75 HP and 34/48 stats not too shabby. Free! I have not played the gnome yet in gear, but as for the ogre , here's what we think...

We found us a spot in south to to kill some good exp mobs , with almost to much ease, if we don't attack the wrongyyellow mob . Tree snakes at swamp zone! I highly recommend them . Its as if god himself told us about this exp spot . Rayroy destroys blues and evens without dropping below 80% on evens , and 95 to 93% on blues ! Seriously! Is the the Starting stats u think??? He has 100 ago 145 Stan and 140 str or vice versa and a shield . I am hoping this is not the difference between so.done with stats and someone without good stats as in poor Skipito! But then what the hell is gear and stats for I suppose . I still have confidence in gnome power! The will of Skipito will rise up to the occasion, as will my fondness of gnomes . But this I'd what I've noticed.... Maybe its just a lower level thing hehe.

The gnome however is very fun ! I look very watching him, I love looking at him and being able to see he is a tank, I love his animations , love the character! That's part of what eq is about for sure. Getting to the character select screen and seeing how good your character looms before u actually dive into the game. Kinda gets you in the mood to play a few, and you get to admire your efforts. The gnome loons fantastic in most armor he has gotten. I have read gnomes look god like in veloius armor too! He doesn't even have his set of banded yet either. Rayroy looks liiiike shiiiiiit ATM, even with his full banded set : ( - oh man gotta get him in some plate or something , he is disgusting me .

The gnome doesn't play bad though, and I'm yet to equip him with his awaiting banded set, so there is still much to see. Which brings me to a point I wanted to mention. I look forward to playing them both! Its weird , I thought they would be the same , but they are a change of pace somewhat like I wouldn't have expexlcted. Some said I was crazy for leveling to warriors at the same time, but I may have stumbled upon a refreshing way for me to enjoy eq, without the want or temptation to play another class like I always do. But as you do know, warriors are a fun class to play. Well I think...
