I'm a Qeynos person and I suppose I'll always be. I just feel at home in that awkwardly designed city with passages way too narrow and unpredictable. Generally the city is poorly layed out but it's my place and nothing beats the music of Qeynos gates.

Also Qeynos Hills with its many dangers (Fluffy! *shiver*...) was the first place I probably had to try and find my corpse.

Not to mention stumbling on the Blackburrow entrance and losing the corpse in the water for good this time.

Or somehow finding the way to Western Karanas and being lost for an hour until some kind soul finally runs you back home.

Ive always really liked Ak'anon. There's just something about that zone I love, especially coming out into the Steamfont Mountains. There's so many great camps and you can literally level up to 20 without ever leaving Steamfont, I just love it there.

Kelethin hands down! Spent my entire first session of EQ lost in the tree tops talking to other newbies. On Solusek Ro, Greater Faydark was the trade hub. I miss the hustle and bustle of that forest to this day.

But now that you mention Nektulos: Growing up as a first-time newbie at the Nektulos newbie log was the most amazing way I can imagine to get into the game. People were so kind, and the high-levels (read: they had a last name!) were watching over the lowbies. And when we were finally "big" ourselves - and got to repay the kindness!

Steamfont is the most underrated 1 to 12 starting area. Xp and plat a plenty and for the true noobs there are even minotaur axes to be had!

Levels 1-5 in Kelethin in 1999 is what got me 100% hooked on eq.
Being my first real MMO experience, interacting with strangers, combined with the structure of the town and the Kelethin music.
Immersion levels were off the charts back then.

Voted Qeynos from my time on live, with a second vote going to Kelethin.

I'll never forget the first time I saw a level 30-something warrior in Crafted gear, or the first time I got a SoW at the Qeynos gates.

Also, the music from both places bring such strong nostalgia and emotion. That shit will live with me for life.

Sayer cabin flute music is the BEST music in eq imho. Rivaled only by boat music for me. Seriously though when I hear either of those two tracks I transform into that 13 year old again and feel mad nostalgia on high.

Real monks are agnostic and come from Qeynos. Freeport monks are vastly inferior. It is known.

Was actually in Qeynos the other day and was surprised it wasn't a ghost town almost 7 years into this server. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was healthy, but there were 5-10 people there and a couple low levels killing out in front of the gates. The fact that even out of the way lower level zones are still seeing use is one of my favorite things about p99.

Faydwer is the "most homey", but starting in Everfrost was such a phenomenal experience back in the day. The most thrilling newbie area, with those maze-like mountains and then the expansive Tundra, and so many powerful mobs wandering around and a wide level range of content to enable the entire Barbarian populace (who were night blind!). Very, very happy that I rolled a Barbarian Shaman when I started the game and have that knowledge of what an MMORPG should be like. I like Qeynos more than Freeport as well.
